Hydrogenation of carbon dioxide to methanol using a homogeneous ruthenium–Triphos catalyst : from mechanistic investigations to multiphase catalysis
Sebastian Wesselbaum,Verena Moha,Markus Meuresch,Sandra Brosinski,Katharina Thenert,Jens Kothe,Thorsten vom Stein,Ulli Englert,Markus Hölscher,Jürgen Klankermayer,Walter Leitner +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed mechanistic study using DFT calculations shows that a sequential series of hydride transfer and protonolysis steps can account for the transformation of CO2 via formate/formic acid to hydroxymethanolate or formaldehyde and finally methanolate/methanol within the coordination sphere of a single Ru-Triphos-fragment.
Journal ArticleDOI
First Cr(III)−SNS Complexes and Their Use as Highly Efficient Catalysts for the Trimerization of Ethylene to 1-Hexene
David S. McGuinness,Peter Wasserscheid,Wilhelm Keim,David Hedley Morgan,John Thomas Dixon,Annette Bollmann,Hulisani Maumela,Fiona Millicent Hess,Ulli Englert +8 more
TL;DR: Cr(III) complexes of tridentate SNS ligands have been prepared and evaluated as catalysts for ethylene trimerization, with several giving very high activity and excellent selectivity toward 1-hexene when activated with methylaluminoxane.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fundamental Studies and Development of Nickel-Catalyzed Trifluoromethylthiolation of Aryl Chlorides: Active Catalytic Species and Key Roles of Ligand and Traceless MeCN Additive Revealed
TL;DR: A catalytic protocol to convert aryl and heteroaryl chlorides to the corresponding trifluoromethyl sulfides and its beneficial role lies in decreasing the energetic span, therefore accelerating product formation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel Cr-PNP complexes as catalysts for the trimerisation of ethylene
David S. McGuinness,Peter Wasserscheid,Wilhelm Keim,Chunhua Hu,Ulli Englert,John Thomas Dixon,Cronje Grove +6 more
TL;DR: Cr(III) complexes of tridentate PNP ligands have been prepared and evaluated as catalysts for ethylene trimerisation, with several giving high activity and excellent selectivity towards 1-hexene when activated with methylaluminoxane.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and Structure of the First Terminal Borylene Complexes.
TL;DR: This compound along with its Cr analogue represent the first examples of terminal borylene complexes with a two-coordinate metal-bound boron atom.
