Journal ArticleDOI

Sulphonated biomass-based catalyst for solketal synthesis by acetalization of glycerol – A byproduct of biodiesel production

TL;DR: In this article , a cellulose based heterogeneous solid carbon catalyst was prepared from cellulose by treating cellulose with concentrated sulphuric acid in innocuous hydrothermal conditions, which shows promising potential as a suitable catalyst for the synthesis of solketal (a biofuel additive) by acetalization of glycerol, the waste product of biodiesel production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carbon Dioxide Adsorption on Activated Carbon Hydrothermally Treated and Impregnated with Metal Oxides

TL;DR: In this article, the performance of activated carbon modified by hydrothermal treatment and impregnation techniques was compared using metal oxides, and it was found that activated carbon that had been hydrothermally treated with cerium oxide (CeO2) had the highest adsorption capacity of 0.856 mmol/g with a breakthrough time of 19.33 min.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of bioadsorbent produced using incorporated treatment of chemical and carbonization procedures.

TL;DR: H3PO4 is a good pretreatment for preparing PKS and CS prior to carbonization process to produce bioadsorbent with well-developed microporous and mesoporous volume, indicating that the effort to produce alternative high grade and inexpensive adsorbent derived from lignocellulosic biomass, particularly in the nut shell form was implied in this research.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of palm-based trimethylolpropane ester/mineral oil blending on dielectric properties and oxidative stability of transformer insulating liquid

TL;DR: In this paper, high oleic palm-based trimethylolpropane (TMP) ester was blended and homogenized with 20 to 50 % of mineral transformer oil, and the physico-chemical and electrical properties of each base fluid was compared with that of pure TMP ester and pure mineral oil.
