Journal ArticleDOI
Glycogen content and udpglucose-glucan glucosyl-transferase activity of normal human lymphocytes
TL;DR: It was discovered that the D to I transformation was considerably enhanced by the presence of Mg 2+ in the incubation mixture, and it was demonstrated that part of the enzyme was converted to an inactive intermediate form.
Journal ArticleDOI
UDP-glucose-glucan glucosyl-transferase activity of polymorphonuclear leukocytes from diabetic subjects
TL;DR: It is suggested, that the activating effect of Mg2+ on the D to I transformation is due to an activation of an endogenous ATP-ase and adenylate kinase, and that diabetic leucocytes possess transferase-D phosphatase activity in contrast to normal cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Purification of glycogen synthetase-D from human polymorphonuclear leukocytes
L Plesner,L Plesner,E Salsas Leroy,E Salsas Leroy,P Wang,P Wang,M. Rosell Pérez,M. Rosell Pérez,V. Esmann,V. Esmann +9 more
TL;DR: Suspensions of pure polymorphonuclear leukocytes were prepared from normal human blood and found to be intact and suited for metabolic studies, and purification in glycogen allowed a study of the influence of both UDPG and glycogen on the enzymatic reaction.
