Evaporation residues resulting from the $^{11}\mathrm{B}$${+}^{27}$Al and $^{19}\mathrm{F}$${+}^{19}$F fusion reactions leading to the $^{38}\mathrm{Ar}$ compound nucleus and from the $^{19}\mathrm{F}$+${(}^{12}$C, $^{16}\mathrm{O}$, $^{27}\mathrm{Al}$, $^{40}\mathrm{Ca}$) reactions have been measured at incident energies 32 MeV\ensuremath{\le}${\mathit{E}}_{\mathit{L}}$${(}^{19}$F)\ensuremath{\le}72 MeV and 15 MeV\ensuremath{\le}${\mathit{E}}_{\mathit{L}}$${(}^{11}$B)\ensuremath{\le}50 MeV. The hindrance of the fusion cross sections, at energies above the interaction barrier, show a clear dependence on the entrance channel mass asymmetry. This dependence is discussed in terms of model predictions that treat explicitly the mass asymmetry degree of freedom.

Effect of the entrance channel mass asymmetry on the limitation of light heavy-ion fusion cross sections

Cross sections for the fusion of /sup 10,11/B+/sup 10,11/B have been measured in the energy range from 1.5 to 5 MeV/nucleon. The /sup 10/B+/sup 10/B system unexpectedly presents a hindered fusion cross section when compared to the /sup 10/B+/sup 11/B and /sup 11/B+/sup 11/B reactions and to standard model predictions. The missing fusion cross section was diverted to the /sup 10/B exit channel with a total kinetic energy characteristic of strongly damped collisions. Q values and kinematical analysis together with angular distributions suggest a binary symmetric decay of the composite /sup 20/Ne system.

Fissionlike decay of 20Ne: Eccentric behavior in the B+B fusion processes.

In-plane angular correlations have been investigated in the /sup 28/Si(/sup 16/O,/sup 12/C ..cap alpha..), /sup 27/Al(/sup 16/O,/sup 12/C ..cap alpha..), and /sup 27/Al(/sup 10/B,/sup 6/Li ..cap alpha..), reactions at 64, 64, and 48 MeV, respectively. Two sequential processes have been clearly identified, namely, projectile sequential decay and incomplete fusion followed by particle reemission. The analysis is based on three-body kinematics and model fits of experimental angular correlation functions.
