Energy levels of light nuclei A = 12

To study the energy dependence of incomplete fusion processes, the recoil range distributions for the reactions $^{181}\mathrm{Ta}$($^{16}\mathrm{O}$,xn), $^{181}\mathrm{Ta}$($^{16}\mathrm{O}$,pxn), $^{181}\mathrm{Ta}$($^{16}\mathrm{O}$,$\ensuremath{\alpha}$n), $^{181}\mathrm{Ta}$($^{16}\mathrm{O}$,$\ensuremath{\alpha}2$n), $^{181}\mathrm{Ta}$($^{16}\mathrm{O}$,$\ensuremath{\alpha}3$n), and $^{181}\mathrm{Ta}$($^{16}\mathrm{O}$,$2\ensuremath{\alpha}3$n) have been measured at $\ensuremath{\approx}81$-, 90-, and 96 MeV beam energies. The disentanglement of the complete and incomplete fusion processes have been done in terms of full and partial linear momentum transfer from the projectile to the target nucleus. The measurements have been done using recoil catcher technique. The experimentally measured forward recoil range distributions have been interpreted in terms of breakup fusion model. Detailed analysis of the data indicates that incomplete fusion processes have significant contribution at energies as low as $\ensuremath{\approx}5$ MeV/nucleon and their contribution is found to increase with energy.

Linear momentum transfer in incomplete fusion reactions of 12C and 13C with 181Ta

In-plane angular correlations have been investigated in the /sup 28/Si(/sup 16/O,/sup 12/C ..cap alpha..), /sup 27/Al(/sup 16/O,/sup 12/C ..cap alpha..), and /sup 27/Al(/sup 10/B,/sup 6/Li ..cap alpha..), reactions at 64, 64, and 48 MeV, respectively. Two sequential processes have been clearly identified, namely, projectile sequential decay and incomplete fusion followed by particle reemission. The analysis is based on three-body kinematics and model fits of experimental angular correlation functions.

Identification of projectile sequential decay and incomplete fusion in the /sup 16/O+/sup 28/Si, /sup 16/O+/sup 27/Al, and /sup 10/B+/sup 27/Al systems at 4--5 MeV/nucleon

The binary decay of very light nuclear systems into the ground state exit channel has been investigated for light heavy-ion collisions at energies ranging from the Coulomb barrier up to $\ensuremath{\sim}4 \mathrm{MeV}$ per nucleon. A systematic analysis of 14 reactions and up to 50 angular distributions allowed the extraction of the energy thresholds ${(E}_{\mathrm{ef}})$ for the fission channel forming the final products at the ground state (``elastic fission''). A significant suppression of the contribution of statistical processes is observed when the size of the system is reduced. This effect may be related to a relative increase of the fast and peripheral yields.
