Corrosion and Corrosion Inhibition of Reinforcing Steel: I. Immersed in Alkaline Solutions

TL;DR: The electrochemical behavior of reinforcing steel in stagnant alkaline solutions, especially calcium hydroxide, has been investigated in this paper, where it was found that the oxidation processes that take place on steel are determined by the degree of surface oxidation of the sample and by dissolved oxygen, but not by the type of cation present.
Journal ArticleDOI

Corrosion and Corrosion Inhibition of Reinforcing Steel: II. Embedded In Concrete

TL;DR: In this paper, anodic inhibitors such as benzoate, chromate, nitrite, phosphate and stearate are added to a corrosive concrete medium to prevent the corrosion of reinforcing steel.
Journal ArticleDOI

Role of anions in the corrosion and corrosion-inhibition of zinc in aqueous solutions

TL;DR: In this paper, the potential of a pure zinc electrode in neutral, strongly-aerated solutions of these anions as a function of both time and electrolyte concentration was measured.
Journal ArticleDOI

Production and properties of composite electroless Ni-B-SiC coatings

TL;DR: In this article, composite Ni-B coatings enhanced with SiC microparticles on a steel substrate were prepared using the method of electroless plating and structure characterization was performed by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in order to draw conclusions concerning the dispersion and incorporation of SiC particles in the NiB matrix and how they affect surface roughness measured by a profilometer.
