A climatology of stratospheric polar vortices and anticyclones
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used United Kingdom Meteorological Office global analyses from 1991 to 2001 to create a global climatology of stratospheric polar vortices and anticyclones.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Nimbus 7 LIMS version 6 radiance conditioning and temperature retrieval methods and results
Ellis E. Remsberg,Larry L. Gordley,B. Thomas Marshall,R. Earl Thompson,John Burton,Praful P. Bhatt,V. Lynn Harvey,Gretchen Lingenfelser,Murali Natarajan +8 more
TL;DR: The Nimbus 7 Limb Infrared Monitor of the Stratosphere (LIMS) experiment operated for just over 7 months in 1978/1979, as planned, and several important improvements were realized about the LIMS instrument, its forward radiance model, and the line parameters for the gases that emit in its broadband spectral channels as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
SAGE III observations of Arctic polar stratospheric clouds – December 2002
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the SAGE-III data for polar stratospheric cloud (PSC) observations and showed that Type 1a (1b) PSC observations are consistent with a mixture of background aerosol and very few large NAT particles, which suggests that SAGE-III offers the potential for systematic observations of these clouds, which would greatly improve our understanding of how they form and lead to stratosphere denitrification.
