Journal ArticleDOI
Telemedicine for screening diabetic retinopathy: The NO BLIND Italian multicenter study.
Ferdinando Carlo Sasso,Pia Clara Pafundi,Aldo Gelso,Valeria Bono,Ciro Costagliola,Raffaele Marfella,Celestino Sardu,Luca Rinaldi,Raffaele Galiero,Carlo Acierno,Chiara de Sio,Luigi Elio Adinolfi +11 more
TL;DR: Use of telemedicine could offer an easy, smart specialist fundus oculi examination, as well as putting in a screening programme many patients who otherwise would be excluded.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship between albuminuric CKD and diabetic retinopathy in a real-world setting of type 2 diabetes: Findings from No blind study.
Ferdinando Carlo Sasso,Pia Clara Pafundi,Aldo Gelso,Valeria Bono,Ciro Costagliola,Raffaele Marfella,Celestino Sardu,Luca Rinaldi,Raffaele Galiero,Carlo Acierno,Alfredo Caturano,C. de Sio,L. Di Palo,Ornella Carbonara,M. Riccio,G. De Simone,L. Lucibelli,S. Masi +27 more
TL;DR: In T2DM with DKD, the AER seems to be related to the presence of DR, and is confirmed above all in those with more severe DR.
Journal ArticleDOI
High HDL cholesterol: A risk factor for diabetic retinopathy? Findings from NO BLIND study.
Ferdinando Carlo Sasso,Pia Clara Pafundi,Aldo Gelso,Valeria Bono,Ciro Costagliola,Raffaele Marfella,Celestino Sardu,Luca Rinaldi,Raffaele Galiero,Carlo Acierno,Chiara de Sio,Alfredo Caturano,Teresa Salvatore,Luigi Elio Adinolfi +13 more
TL;DR: A novel relationship between high HDL cholesterol and DR was observed and was confirmed in a real-life population of type 2 diabetes patients recruited in several centres in Italy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aspirin in a diabetic retinopathy setting: Insights from NO BLIND study
Pia Clara Pafundi,Raffaele Galiero,Alfredo Caturano,Carlo Acierno,Chiara de Sio,Erica Vetrano,Riccardo Nevola,Aldo Gelso,Valeria Bono,Ciro Costagliola,Raffaele Marfella,Celestino Sardu,Luca Rinaldi,Teresa Salvatore,Luigi Elio Adinolfi,Ferdinando Carlo Sasso +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that aspirin was not associated with DR after adjustment for several cardio-metabolic confounders, and related to the well-known pro-hemorrhagic effect of aspirin, its use should be individually tailored, even by telemedicine tools.
