Journal ArticleDOI
Sulfated polysaccharide from Sargassum tenerrimum attenuates oxidative stress induced reactive oxygen species production in in vitro and in zebrafish model.
Vasantharaja Raguraman,Stanley Abraham L,Jyotsna J,Seedevi Palaniappan,Sathishkannan Gopal,R. Thirugnanasambandam,Ramalingam Kirubagaran +6 more
TL;DR: SP exerted a protective role against H2O2 mediated oxidative stress in fibroblast cells through scavenging intracellular ROS and ROS generation and cell death were significantly decreased in SP treated zebrafish embryos at 150 μg/mL, whereas the survival rate was increased.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unraveling rapid extraction of fucoxanthin from Padina tetrastromatica: Purification, characterization and biomedical application
Vasantharaja Raguraman,L. Stanley Abraham,Davoodbasha MubarakAli,Davoodbasha MubarakAli,G. Narendrakumar,R. Thirugnanasambandam,Ramalingam Kirubagaran,Nooruddin Thajuddin +7 more
TL;DR: Interestingly, fucoxanthin showed protective effect against H2O2-induced intracellular ROS and cytotoxicity on fibroblast cells at the concentration of 120 μM, suggesting that UAE could be implemented for the extraction at high percentage and eventually be utilized these biomolecules as nutraceuticals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of biogenic zinc oxide nanoparticles on seed germination and seedling vigor of maize (Zea mays)
Prerna Dilip Itroutwar,Govindaraju Kasivelu,Vasantharaja Raguraman,Kannan Malaichamy,Subramanian Kizhaeral Sevathapandian +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, biogenic synthesized zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles using as a nano-priming agent for enhancing seed germination and seedling growth parameters of maize (Zea mays) were determined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical structure and biological properties of a polysaccharide isolated from Pleurotus sajor-caju
Palaniappan Seedevi,Palaniappan Seedevi,Abirami Ramu Ganesan,Kannan Mohan,Vasantharaja Raguraman,Murugesan Sivakumar,Palaniappan Sivasankar,Sivakumar Loganathan,Palasundaram Rajamalar,S. Vairamani,Annaian Shanmugam +10 more
TL;DR: Herein, a polysaccharide obtained from Pleurotus sajor-caju was fractionated via anion-exchange column Chromatography and purified using gel permeation column chromatography.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mineral and Trace Metal Concentrations in Seaweeds by Microwave-Assisted Digestion Method Followed by Quadrupole Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry.
Suman Thodhal Yoganandham,Vasantharaja Raguraman,GobalaKrishnan Muniswamy,Gayathri Sathyamoorthy,Remya Rajan Renuka,Jayaseelan Chidambaram,Thirugnanasambandam Rajendran,Kumar Chandrasekaran,Radhika Rajasree Santha Ravindranath +8 more
TL;DR: This study reports the total concentrations of mineral and trace metals sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, copper, zinc, and manganese in the seaweeds Padina tetrastromatica, Turbinaria ornate, Sargassum wightii, S Argassum swartzii, Gracilaria edulis, Ulva lactuca, Chaetomorpha antennina, and Halimeda opuntia collected from mandapam
