Journal ArticleDOI
Ligand Migration from Cluster to Support: A Crucial Factor for Catalysis by Thiolate-protected Gold Clusters.
Bei Zhang,Annelies Sels,Giovanni Salassa,Stephan Pollitt,Vera Truttmann,Christoph Rameshan,Jordi Llorca,Wojciech Olszewski,Günther Rupprechter,Thomas Bürgi,Noelia Barrabés +10 more
TL;DR: It is reported the first detailed observation of sulfur ligand migration from Au to the oxide support upon deposition and oxidative pre‐treatment, employing mainly S K‐edge XANES, which not only produces clean Au cluster surfaces but also the surrounding oxide support is modified by sulfur‐containing species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Support effect on the reactivity and stability of Au25(SR)18 and Au144(SR)60 nanoclusters in liquid phase cyclohexane oxidation
Clara Garcia,Stephan Pollitt,Marte van der Linden,Marte van der Linden,Vera Truttmann,Christoph Rameshan,Raffael Rameshan,Ernst Pittenauer,Günter Allmaier,Peter Kregsamer,Michael Stöger-Pollach,Noelia Barrabés,Günther Rupprechter +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the stability of Au25 and Au144 clusters, supported either on TiO2 or SiO2, was examined upon thermal air pretreatment and, for the first time, upon liquid phase oxidation reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Dynamic Structure of Au38(SR)24 Nanoclusters Supported on CeO2 upon Pretreatment and CO Oxidation.
Stephan Pollitt,Vera Truttmann,Thomas Haunold,Clara Garcia,Wojciech Olszewski,Jordi Llorca,Noelia Barrabés,Günther Rupprechter +7 more
TL;DR: Atomically precise thiolate protected Au nanoclusters Au38(SC2H4Ph)24 on CeO2 were used for in-situ extended X-ray absorption fine structure/diffuse reflectance infrared fourier transform spectroscopy and ex situ scanning transmission electron microscopy–high-angle annular dark-field imaging/X-ray photoelectron spectroscope studies monitoring cluster structure changes induced by activation (ligand removal) and CO oxidation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamics of Pd Dopant Atoms inside Au Nanoclusters during Catalytic CO Oxidation.
Clara Garcia,Vera Truttmann,Irene Lopez,Thomas Haunold,Carlo Marini,Christoph Rameshan,Ernst Pittenauer,Peter Kregsamer,Klaus Dobrezberger,Michael Stöger-Pollach,Noelia Barrabés,Günther Rupprechter +11 more
TL;DR: The combined analysis of in situ XAFS, operando DRIFTS, and ex situ XPS revealed the structural evolution of bimetallic PdAu nanoclusters, yielding a Pd single-site catalyst of 2.7 nm average particle size with improved CO oxidation activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ligand engineering of immobilized nanoclusters on surfaces: ligand exchange reactions with supported Au11(PPh3)7Br3
Vera Truttmann,Christopher Herzig,Ivonne Illes,Andreas Limbeck,Ernst Pittenauer,Michael Stöger-Pollach,Günter Allmaier,Thomas Bürgi,Noelia Barrabés,Günther Rupprechter +9 more
TL;DR: The first successful ligand exchange on supported (immobilized) Au11 nanoclusters is reported, and different structures/compounds were formed depending on the nature of the incoming ligand, which may allow controlled nanocluster functionalization.
