Journal ArticleDOI
Targeted Activation of T Cells with IL-2-Coupled Nanoparticles
TL;DR: The IL-2 biology and current clinical application with regard to nanoparticle-based IL- 2-mediated manipulation of T cell responses in autoimmunity, chronic inflammation, and cancer are discussed.
Book ChapterDOI
Efficiency of biolistic DNA vaccination in experimental type I allergy.
TL;DR: Biolistic vaccination in experimental mouse models of IgE-mediated type I allergy as well as allergen-induced airway inflammation is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulatory T cell deficient scurfy mice exhibit a Th2/M2-like inflammatory response in the skin
Stefanie Haeberle,Verena Raker,Jessica Haub,Yong O. Kim,S.-Y. Weng,Osman K. Yilmaz,Alexander Enk,Kerstin Steinbrink,Detlef Schuppan,Eva Hadaschik +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that scurfy mice show a predominant AC-5 ANA pattern typical for mixed connective tissue disease as in scleroderma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epicutaneous and Oral Low-Zone Tolerance Protects from Colitis in Mice
Talkea Schmidt,Nadine Lorenz,Verena Raker,Sonja Reißig,Ari Waisman,Benno Weigmann,Kerstin Steinbrink +6 more
TL;DR: This study highlights in particular epicutaneous immunotherapies in the form of LZT through activation of CD4(+)CD25(+)Foxp3(+) regulatory T cells as treatment strategies for inflammatory, allergic, or autoimmune diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Research in practice: The impact of interferon-α therapy on immune tolerance
Verena Raker,Kerstin Steinbrink +1 more
TL;DR: It is found that IFN‐α overcomes immunological tolerance processes, leading to an improved immunostimulation and efficient tumor rejection, but also increases the risk of autoimmunity.
