Direct phase modulation of a DFB laser for udWDM-PON
TL;DR: In this article, the response of a DFB was equalized with a simple RC network for modulating directly its phase and producing a BPSK signal, and the system was tested with a heterodyne coherent detector at 1.25 Gb/s and 2.5 GHz.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
LUT-Free Carrier Recovery for Intradyne Optical DPSK Receivers in udWDM-PON
TL;DR: An LUT-free feed-forward carrier recovery architecture in intradyne optical DPSK receivers that reduces ∼41% DSP hardware resources and 61% required process clocks with 85% less power consumption in real-time operation on FPGA with data at 1.25Gbps is presented.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Optical Line Terminal and Remote Node Sub-Systems of Next-Generation Access Networks
Johan Bauwelinck,Cleitus Antony,F. Bonada,Antonio Caballero,Sotiria Chatzi,A. M. Clarke,Liliana N. Costa,Marco Forzati,Jose A. Lazaro,A. Maziotis,Miguel Mestre,Idelfonso Tafur Monroy,Peter Ossieur,Victor Polo,Josep Prat,Xing-Zhi Qiu,Pierre-Jean Rigole,Bernhard Schrenk,Risto Soila,Antônio Lúcio Teixeira,Ioannis Tomkos,Paul D. Townsend,Xin Yin,Hercules Avramopoulos +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, the FP7 EuroFOS Network of Excellence (FOSNOME) has been used for the development of scalable, cost-effective and high-bandwidth passive optical networks.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
An OFDMA-PON with non-preselected independent ONU sources and centralized feedback wavelength control: Dimensioning and experimental results
Ivan N. Cano,Maria C. Santos,Xavier Escayola,Victor Polo,Elias Giacoumidis,Christoforos Kachris,Ioannis Tomkos,Josep Prat +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a simple and low cost method for wavelength control based on centralized OLT monitoring and feedback of economical random non-preselected independent ONU sources is presented, which reduces the spectral overlap probability and increasing the number of users and cost-effectiveness of a PON.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Evaluating the energy efficiency of DWA algorithms in UDWDM-PONs
TL;DR: In this article, a low-cost high sensitivity coherent detection technique furnishes high splitting ratios and long-reach extension for the wavelength-to-user (W2U) concept.
