TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated how female athletes negotiate and reconcile the social expectations surrounding femininity with athleticism, and found that women in sportswomen live in two cultures: the sport culture that is inherently masculine and larger social culture where femininity is celebrated for women.

The Mental Readiness Form as a Measure of Competitive State Anxiety
