Journal ArticleDOI
Cardioprotective and prognostic effects of remote ischaemic preconditioning in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery: a single-centre randomised, double-blind, controlled trial
Matthias Thielmann,Eva Kottenberg,Petra Kleinbongard,Daniel Wendt,Nilgün Gedik,Susanne Pasa,Vivien Price,Konstantinos Tsagakis,Markus Neuhäuser,Jürgen Peters,Heinz Jakob,Gerd Heusch +11 more
TL;DR: Remote ischaemic preconditioning provided perioperative myocardial protection and improved the prognosis of patients undergoing elective CABG surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
The new St Jude Trifecta versus Carpentier-Edwards Perimount Magna and Magna Ease aortic bioprosthesis: Is there a hemodynamic superiority?
Daniel Wendt,Matthias Thielmann,Björn Plicht,Jörg Aßmann,Vivien Price,Markus Neuhäuser,Heinz Jakob +6 more
TL;DR: Although mean pressure gradients and aortic valve areas seem to be advantageous at 6-month follow-up with the new Trifecta valve, after multivariate covariance analysis, no influence of prosthesis type on mean pressure gradient or aorta valve area could be demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison between different risk scoring algorithms on isolated conventional or transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
Daniel Wendt,Matthias Thielmann,Philipp Kahlert,Svea Kastner,Vivien Price,Fadi Al-Rashid,Polykarpos Christos Patsalis,Raimund Erbel,Heinz Jakob +8 more
TL;DR: Overall, 30-day mortality was best predicted by the STS score, and the new EuroSCORE-II was not superior to other models in risk prediction for AVR and TAVR patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of High-Risk Patients With Aortic Stenosis and Coronary Artery Disease
Daniel Wendt,Philipp Kahlert,Tim Lenze,Markus Neuhäuser,Vivien Price,Thomas Konorza,Raimund Erbel,Heinz Jakob,Matthias Thielmann +8 more
TL;DR: The present study demonstrates that transcatheter aortic valve implantation in combination with prior percutaneous coronary intervention within 12 months produces similar results in a propensity score matched high-risk patient population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Is there any difference in aortic wall quality between patients with aortic stenosis and those with regurgitation
Jaroslav Benedik,Kevin Pilarzcyk,Daniel Wendt,Vivien Price,Konstantinos Tsagakis,Mareike Perrey,Hideo A. Baba,Heinz Jakob +7 more
TL;DR: It is proved that patients presenting for AV replacement with AR have a poorer quality of the ascending aorta despite a superior thickness compared with patients with AS, and patients with a slightly dilated aorti have a weaker cohesion of the aortic wall.
