Journal ArticleDOI
Absence of integrin alpha 7 causes a novel form of muscular dystrophy.
Ulrike Mayer,Gesine Saher,Reinhard Fässler,Bornemann A,Frank Echtermeyer,von der Mark H,Nicolai Miosge,Ernst Pöschl,von der Mark K +8 more
TL;DR: Findings demonstrate that αβ1 integrin represents an indispensable linkage between the muscle fibre and the extracellular matrix that is independent of the dystrophin–dystroglycan complex–mediated interaction of the cytoskeleton with the muscle basement membrane.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immunolocalization of type X collagen in normal fetal and adult osteoarthritic cartilage with monoclonal antibodies
TL;DR: Clusters of hypertrophic chondrocyte hypertrophy and type X collagen expression in osteoarthritic articular cartilage were confirmed, confirming previous observations on enhanced chondrically-enhanced chondrogenic tissue distribution and typeX collagen expression on processing and tissue distribution oftype X collagen.
Journal ArticleDOI
Type X collagen expression and hypertrophic differentiation in chondrogenic neoplasias
TL;DR: Surprisingly, in less differentiated chondrosarcomas with spindle-shaped cells and non-cartilaginous extracellular matrix, exceptional expression of collagen type X was observed, which indicates potential uncoupling of collagentype X expression from the differentiated chONDrocytic phenotype in neoplastic chondrocytes in vivo.
