Journal ArticleDOI

Functional and morphological abnormalities in temporal lobe epilepsy: a comparison of interictal and ictal EEG, CT, MRI, SPECT and PET

TL;DR: While only EEG provided specific diagnostic information, the focus definition was consistently good on PET images, poor on CT scans, and generally good but less consistent on MRI.
Journal ArticleDOI

Localization of the epileptic focus during methohexital-induced anesthesia.

TL;DR: A short anesthesia was provided by methohexital for painless percutaneous removal of subdural electrodes in 27 patients with medically intractable, complex partial seizures who had undergone invasive preoperative evaluation, indicating a good outcome of epilepsy surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rhinal-hippocampal connectivity determines memory formation during sleep.

TL;DR: Elect EEG during sleep from rhinal and hippocampal depth electrodes implanted in 12 epilepsy patients is recorded and it is shown that rhinal-hippocampal connectivity values are approximately twice as large for patients with good dream recall versus those patients with poor recall, suggesting thatRhinal-Hippocampa connectivity is a key factor in determining declarative memory formation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Possibilities and limitations of magnetic source imaging of methohexital-induced epileptiform patterns in temporal lobe epilepsy patients.

TL;DR: Investigation of MEG-based techniques in lateralizing and localizing the epileptogenic area of temporomesial epilepsy confirmed a similar lateralizing power of the MEG and ECoG recordings and correlation analyses of spike densities and the source location analyses from MEG recordings indicate that spike generated in deep temporal structures may escape the M EG registration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seizure occurrence during ovulatory and anovulatory cycles in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy: a prospective study.

TL;DR: Therapeutic recommendations for the treatment of seizures related to the menstrual cycle (catamenial seizures) include the administration of hormones, as progesterone or the suppression of the menstrual hormonal cycle by synthetic gonadotropin releasing hormone analogs.
