Journal ArticleDOI
Exaggerated natriuresis in essential hypertension
TL;DR: The observations confirm the finding that exaggerated natriuresis occurs in hypertensive patients challenged with infusion of hypertonic saline solution, and it is found that increased sodium excretion is also induced by infusion of hypotonic inulin and p-aminohippurate solution administered at low rates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reactivity of renal and systemic circulations to vasoconstrictor agents in normotensive and hypertensive subjects

Journal ArticleDOI
Renal function in the separate kidneys of man. i. hemodynamics and excretion of solute and water in normal subjects
TL;DR: In none of the observations reported here did measurable leakage occur, and analysis of bladder urine permits partition between the right and left kidneys if the concentrations of the test substances are low.

Journal ArticleDOI
Postural natriuresis and urine osmotic concentration in hydropenic subjects
William H. Hulet,Homer W. Smith +1 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that when the rate of influx of solute-free water from the urine attains the approximal constant and maximal value (Tm H 2 O c ) previously described during mannitol diuresis, the ‘concentration' limitation in sodium transport by the loop gives way to a maximal rate limitation.
