Environmental exposure to pesticides and the risk of Parkinson's disease in the Netherlands.

TL;DR: This study provides some evidence for an association between environmental exposure to specific pesticides and the risk of PD, and generates new leads for further epidemiological and mechanistic research.
Journal ArticleDOI

Integrated multidisciplinary care in Parkinson's disease: a non-randomised, controlled trial (IMPACT).

TL;DR: This integrated care approach offered only small benefits to patients with Parkinson's disease, and these disappeared after correction for baseline disease severity, suggesting that different approaches are needed to achieve more substantial health benefits.
Journal ArticleDOI

The ParkinsonNet concept: Development, implementation and initial experience†

TL;DR: The initial experience with this new concept is promising, showing an increase in PD‐specific and a steady rise in the patient volume of individual therapists, and the procedures for developing a ParkinsonNet network.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Case-Control Study of the Protective Effect of Alcohol, Coffee, and Cigarette Consumption on Parkinson Disease Risk: Time-Since-Cessation Modifies the Effect of Tobacco Smoking

TL;DR: The observed protective effect of total smoking was significantly modified by time-since-cessation with a diminishing protective effect after cessation of smoking, indicating that both intensity and duration have an equal contribution to the reduced PD risk.
Journal ArticleDOI

Allied health care in Parkinson's disease: Referral, consultation, and professional expertise

TL;DR: Current referral to and delivery of allied health care in PD are suboptimal and evidence‐based guidelines for allied health Care in PD and active implementation of these guidelines are needed.
