Smart Homes as a Means to Sustainable Energy Consumption: A Study of Consumer Perceptions

TL;DR: In this article, consumer reactions to a fully furnished and equipped smart home are analyzed using focus groups (four groups with a total of 29 participants) and the analysis looks at consumer perceptions of and reactions to an energy management system which optimizes electricity consumption based on different ICT solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Extended forecast methods for day-ahead electricity spot prices applying artificial neural networks

TL;DR: In this article, a methodology based on artificial neuronal networks (ANN) is presented to forecast electricity prices, which leads to well-fitting electricity price forecasts, whereas forecast errors are as low as or even lower than other forecast models for electricity prices known from the literature.
Journal ArticleDOI

Public acceptance and preferences related to renewable energy and grid expansion policy: Empirical insights for Germany

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyse public acceptance of energy infrastructure and its main drivers on local vs. national levels using a nationally representative survey and find that, on a national level, the acceptance of RES is very high and there is also a high acceptance of grid expansion if it helps to increase the share of RES in the system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessing CO2 emissions of electric vehicles in Germany in 2030

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss four assessment methods (average annual electricity mix, average time-dependent electricity mix and marginal electricity mix) and analyze the corresponding CO₂ emissions for Germany in 2030 using an optimizing energy system model (PERSEUS-NET-TS).
Journal ArticleDOI

Agent-based modelling and simulation of smart electricity grids and markets – A literature review

TL;DR: A detailed review of agent-based modelling and simulation techniques for analyzing smart grids from a systems perspective can be found in this article, where a general classification of applying agentbased modeling techniques to electricity systems is provided.
