Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy Followed by Surgery Versus Surgery Alone for Locally Advanced Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Esophagus (NEOCRTEC5010): A Phase III Multicenter, Randomized, Open-Label Clinical Trial.
Hong Yang,Hui Liu,Yuping Chen,Chengchu Zhu,Wentao Fang,Zhentao Yu,Weimin Mao,Jiaqing Xiang,Yongtao Han,Zhijian Chen,Haihua Yang,Jiaming Wang,Qingsong Pang,Xiao Zheng,Huanjun Yang,Tao Li,Florian Lordick,Xavier B. Fernando,Xu Zhang,Qun Li,Geng Wang,Baofu Chen,Teng Mao,Min Kong,Xufeng Guo,Ting Lin,Mengzhong Liu,Jianhua Fu +34 more
TL;DR: This trial shows that NCRT plus surgery improves survival over surgery alone among patients with locally advanced ESCC, with acceptable and manageable adverse events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Airway stenting in the management of iatrogenic tracheal injuries: 10‐Year experience
Rachid Tazi-Mezalek,Ali I. Musani,Sophie Laroumagne,Philippe Astoul,Xavier B. D’Journo,Pascal Thomas,Hervé Dutau +6 more
TL;DR: Iatrogenic tracheal injury (ITI) is a rare yet severe complication of endotracheal tube placement or tracheostomy in patients with clinical and/or radiographic signs or inefficient mechanical ventilation following these procedures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Five-Year Survival Outcomes of Hybrid Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy in Esophageal Cancer: Results of the MIRO Randomized Clinical Trial.
Frederiek Nuytens,Tienhan Sandrine Dabakuyo-Yonli,Bernard Meunier,Johan Gagnière,Denis Collet,Xavier B. D’Journo,Cécile Brigand,Thierry Perniceni,Nicolas Carrere,Jean-Yves Mabrut,Simon Msika,Frédérique Peschaud,Michel Prudhomme,Sheraz R. Markar,Sheraz R. Markar,Guillaume Piessen,Fédération de Recherche en Chirurgie +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the long-term, 5-year outcomes of HMIE vs open esophagectomy, including overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), and pattern of disease recurrence, and the potential risk factors associated with these outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
International Multicenter Study on the Impact of Extracapsular Lymph Node Involvement in Primary Surgery Adenocarcinoma of the Esophagus on Overall Survival and Staging Systems.
Philippe Nafteux,Antoon Lerut,Johnny Moons,Arnulf H. Hölscher,Elfriede Bollschweiler,Mark I. van Berge Henegouwen,Sjoerd M. Lagarde,J. Jan B. van Lanschot,Mathieu Messager,Christophe Mariette,Xavier B. D’Journo,Pascal Thomas,Paul De Leyn +12 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that lymph node capsular status is an important prognostic factor and should be considered for the future edition of the TNM staging system for esophageal cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Extracapsular Lymph Node Involvement After Neoadjuvant Chemoradiation Therapy Followed by Surgery in Carcinoma of the Esophagus: A Multicenter Study
Lieven Depypere,Johnny Moons,Christophe Mariette,Xavier B. D’Journo,Pascal Thomas,Arnulf H. Hölscher,Elfriede Bollschweiler,Mark I. van Berge-Henegouwen,J. Jan B. van Lanschot,Toni Lerut,Philippe Nafteux +10 more
TL;DR: Based on this international multicenter study, the presence of EC-LNI after nCRT is at least as important as N-stage for survival and EC- LNI is the strongest prognosticator for overall survival in SCC but not in AC.
