Journal ArticleDOI
The Martian atmospheric ion escape rate dependence on solar wind and solar EUV conditions: 1. Seven years of Mars Express observations
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the influence of IMA heavy ion flux measurements taken in the Martian tail at similar (binned) solar wind density (nsw), velocity (vsw), and solar EUV intensity (IEUV) conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vertical sheets of dense plasma in the topside Martian ionosphere
Erling Nielsen,Xiao-Dong Wang,D. A. Gurnett,D. L. Kirchner,R. L. Huff,Roberto Orosei,Ali Safaeinili,J. J. Plaut,Giovanni Picardi +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a low-frequency radar, Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding (MARSIS), on board the Mars Express spacecraft to sound electron densities in the topside Martian ionosphere.
Journal ArticleDOI
The flapping motion of the Venusian magnetotail: Venus Express observations
Zhaojin Rong,Zhaojin Rong,S. Barabash,Gabriella Stenberg,Yoshifumi Futaana,T. L. Zhang,Weixing Wan,Yong Wei,Xiao-Dong Wang,Lihui Chai,J. Zhong +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the flapping motion of the Venusian magnetotail and found that it generally comprises contributions both from a nonpropagating steady flapping and a propagating kink-like flapping.
Journal ArticleDOI
Morphology of magnetic field in near-Venus magnetotail: Venus express observations
Zhaojin Rong,Zhaojin Rong,Zhaojin Rong,Stas Barabash,Yoshifumi Futaana,Gabriella Stenberg,Tielong Zhang,Weixing Wan,Yong Wei,Xiao-Dong Wang,Lihui Chai,J. Zhong +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the magnetic field measurements made by Venus Express during the period of April 2006 to December 2012 to investigate the global magnetic field morphology in the near-Venus magnetotail (0, 3 Venusian radii, RV, down tail) in the frame of solar wind electric field coordinates.
Journal ArticleDOI
High Resolution Imaging Camera (HiRIC) on China’s First Mars Exploration Tianwen-1 Mission
Qingyu Meng,Dong Wang,Xiao-Dong Wang,Wei Li,Xianwei Yang,Dejie Yan,Yang Li,Zhirui Cao,Qi Ji,Tianyu Sun,Wei Yan,Ke-jun Wang,Xiaobo Li,Huang Jingtao,Zheng Wang,Weiguo Zhao,Yan Wang,He Yunfeng,Hao Xianpeng,Wen-Guang Liu,Bowei Zhang,Zhou Pengji,Yun-Hui Li,Haibo Zhao,Lin Lu,Hainan Guan,Zhou Dali,Fanlu Wu,Fan Zhang,Shiyu Zhu,Dong Jihong +30 more
TL;DR: The testing results show that the instrument is in good condition, and the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) can achieve 0.18 at Nyquist frequency, so the HiRIC can achieve a well image on China first Mars exploration mission.
