Isolation and characterization of cancer stem cells from a human glioblastoma cell line U87.
Shi-cang Yu,Yi-Fang Ping,Liang Yi,Zhi-hua Zhou,Jianhong Chen,Xiao-Hong Yao,Lei Gao,Ji Ming Wang,Xiu-Wu Bian +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that U87 cell line contained a fraction of tumor cells that could form tumor spheres and were enriched by progressively increasing the concentration of serum-free neural stem cell medium with or without low dose vincristine, a simple and effective method for isolation of CSCs to study the initiation and progression of human glioblastoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
The chemokine CXCL12 and its receptor CXCR4 promote glioma stem cell-mediated VEGF production and tumour angiogenesis via PI3K/AKT signalling
Yi-Fang Ping,Xiao-Hong Yao,Jian-yong Jiang,Lin-tao Zhao,Shi-cang Yu,Tao Jiang,Marie C.M. Lin,Marie C.M. Lin,Jianhong Chen,Bin Wang,Rong Zhang,You-Hong Cui,Cheng Qian,Ji Ming Wang,Xiu-Wu Bian +14 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that CXCL12 and its receptor CXCR4 promote GSC‐initiated glioma growth and angiogenesis by stimulating VEGF production.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pathological evidence for residual SARS-CoV-2 in pulmonary tissues of a ready-for-discharge patient.
Xiao-Hong Yao,Xiao-Hong Yao,Zhi-Cheng He,Zhi-Cheng He,Ting-Yuan Li,Hua-Rong Zhang,Hua-Rong Zhang,Yan Wang,Yan Wang,Huaming Mou,Qiao-Nan Guo,Shi-cang Yu,Shi-cang Yu,Yanqing Ding,Xindong Liu,Xindong Liu,Yi-Fang Ping,Yi-Fang Ping,Xiu-Wu Bian,Xiu-Wu Bian +19 more
TL;DR: Postmortem pathologic study in a ready-fordischarge COVID-19 patient who succumbed to sudden cardiovascular accident revealed SARSCoV-2-viruses remaining in pneumocytes and virus-caused pathological changes in the lungs, providing new insights into SARS-CoV- 2 pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 2 (VEGFR-2) Plays a Key Role in Vasculogenic Mimicry Formation, Neovascularization and Tumor Initiation by Glioma Stem-like Cells
Xiao-Hong Yao,Yi-Fang Ping,Ying Liu,Kequiang Chen,Teizo Yoshimura,Mingyong Liu,Wanghua Gong,Chong Chen,Qin Niu,De-Yu Guo,Xia Zhang,Ji Ming Wang,Xiu-Wu Bian +12 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrates VEGFR-2 as an essential molecule to sustain the “stemness” of GSLCs, their capacity to initiate tumor vasculature, and direct initiation of tumor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Endothelial cells promote stem-like phenotype of glioma cells through activating the Hedgehog pathway
Guang-Ning Yan,Lang Yang,Yang-Fan Lv,Yu Shi,Li-Li Shen,Xiao-Hong Yao,Qiao-Nan Guo,Peng Zhang,You-Hong Cui,Xia Zhang,Xiu-Wu Bian,De-Yu Guo +11 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrates that endothelial cells in the tumour microenvironment provide Shh to activate the HH signalling pathway in glioma cells, thereby promoting GSC properties andglioma propagation.
