Fundamentals of Queueing Theory

The objective of this paper is to give a comprehensive introduction to applied cryptography with an engineer or computer scientist in mind. The emphasis is on the knowledge needed to create practical systems which supports integrity, confidentiality, or authenticity. Topics covered includes an introduction to the concepts in cryptography, attacks against cryptographic systems, key use and handling, random bit generation, encryption modes, and message authentication codes. Recommendations on algorithms and further reading is given in the end of the paper. This paper should make the reader able to build, understand and evaluate system descriptions and designs based on the cryptographic components described in the paper.

ECPP: Efficient Conditional Privacy Preservation Protocol

Autonomous vehicles are self-driving platforms that will transform the whole transportation system into a new form of connected intelligent ecosystem. However, vehicle automation will go through multiple evolution stages that start by partially automated driving where platforms are self-managed while driving decisions are made by humans, to the collaborative driving vehicles where humans intervene is needed during emergencies, and ultimately reaching fully automated vehicles that are completely driven by artificial intelligence (AI). Although fully automated vehicles are anticipated to operate as independent platforms, in-reality they are network-dependent systems that require continuous access to communication channels. The terrain data obtained from vehicle sensors are limited in distance and may not be able to capture the surrounding landscape for safe automated driving.

Reshaping Autonomous Driving for the 6G Era

To realize efficient in-transit messages (bundles) authentication in delay tolerant networks (DTNs), this paper introduces a novel batch bundle authentication (BBA) scheme to validate the bundles in a batch instead of authenticating them one by one. We take the advantage of identity based cryptography to dramatically reduce the transmission cost, and adopt batch signature technique to realize the efficient bundle signature verification. Compared with existing message authentication approaches, our scheme has the superiority on improved efficiency even under the invalid signature attack. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can be an enhancement for current bundle security protocol specification.

BBA: An Efficient Batch Bundle Authentication Scheme for Delay Tolerant Networks

Security and privacy in emerging information technologies

Cluster-based wireless sensor network (WSN) can significantly reduce the energy consumption by data aggregation and has been widely used in WSN applications. However, due to the intrinsic many-to-one traffic pattern in WSN, the network lifetime is generally deteriorated by the unbalanced energy consumption in a cluster-based WSN. Therefore, energy efficiency and network lifetime improvement are two crucial and challenging issues in cluster-based WSNs. In this paper, we propose a Non-Uniform Node Distribution (NUND) scheme to improve the energy efficiency and network lifetime in cluster-based WSNs. Specifically, we first propose an analytic model to analyze the energy consumption and the network lifetime of the cluster-based WSNs. Based on the analysis results, we propose a node distribution algorithm to maximize the network lifetime with a fixed number of sensor nodes in cluster-based WSNs. Extensive simulations demonstrate that the theoretical analysis results determined by the proposed analytic model are consistent with the simulation results, and the NUND can significantly improve the energy efficiency and network lifetime.
