Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of carboxyl and hydroxyl groups on adsorptive polysaccharide fouling: A comparative study based on PVDF and graphene oxide (GO) modified PVDF surfaces
Yaozhong Zhang,Wang Yifan,Xin Cao,Jinkai Xue,Qian Zhang,Jiayu Tian,Xiaoliang Li,Xiaopeng Qiu,Baozhu Pan,April Z. Gu,Xing Zheng +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the contribution of different functional groups on polysaccharides to membrane fouling and found that the interaction between carboxyl groups and Ca2+ significantly altered the particle size and charge of sodium alginate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Layer-by-layer coating of polyvinylamine and dopamine-modified hyaluronic acid inhibits the growth of bacteria and tumor cell lines on the surface of materials
Tuo-Di Zhang,Xudong Deng,Wang Yifan,Xue-Ting Wang,Xi Zhang,Liang-Liang Chen,Xin Cao,Yaozhong Zhang,Chen-Yan Zhang,Xing Zheng,Da-Chuan Yin +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a hydrophilic and transparent coating on various types of substrates by layer-by-layer deposition of polyvinylamine (PVAm) and dopamine-modified hyaluronic acid (HA-DN) was presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of heavy metals on the formation and properties of solvable microbiological products released from activated sludge in biological wastewater treatment.
Xing Zheng,Tong Liu,Menghan Guo,Dong Li,Na Gou,Xin Cao,Xiaopeng Qiu,Xiaoliang Li,Yaozhong Zhang,Guo-Ping Sheng,Baozhu Pan,April Z. Gu,Zhanbin Li +12 more
TL;DR: The correlation equation established to predict SMP production based on the molecular disturbance of the eight key biomarkers was validated by quantifying the amount of SMPs released from the activated sludge under the influence of these metals using a TELI-derived equation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fouling control in ultrafiltration of secondary effluent using polyaniline/TiO2 adsorption and subsequent treatment of desorption eluate using electrochemical oxidation
Xiaoliang Li,Gang Tang,Dou Zhang,Linjie Wu,Lu Sijia,Yaozhong Zhang,Xin Cao,Wen Cheng,Jiangtao Feng,Wei Yan,Baozhu Pan,Li Li,Zhanbin Li,Xing Zheng +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of three adsorbents, polyaniline modified TiO2 (PANI/TiO2), Dow resin IRA(a) and Dow resin IRI(b), in removing organics from secondary effluent (SE) was evaluated, and the objective of this study is to deliver a treatment loop including membrane fouling control using adsorption and treatment of correspondingly formed desorption eluate using electrochemical oxidation, so that the contaminants could be effectively handled within a wastewater treatment plant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term impact of heavy metals on the performance of biological wastewater treatment processes during shock-adaptation-restoration phases.
Dongqi Wang,Gang Tang,Zhangjie Yang,Li Xiaoxiao,Guodong Chai,Tong Liu,Xin Cao,Baozhu Pan,Jiake Li,Guo-Ping Sheng,Xing Zheng,Zhijun Ren +11 more
TL;DR: Only after 60 days of restoration can the activity of enzymes be restored to the control level, which agreed well with the results of effluent quality.
