Hydraulic backwashing for low-pressure membranes in drinking water treatment: A review

TL;DR: In this paper, the backwash parameters of UF/MF membranes used in municipal water supplies are reviewed to provide more comprehensive data, which can improve backwash performance in full-scale drinking water and water reuse treatment plants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Control of natural organic matter fouling of ultrafiltration membrane by adsorption pretreatment: Comparison of mesoporous adsorbent resin and powdered activated carbon

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of mesoporous adsorbent resin (MAR) and powdered activated carbon (PAC) pretreatments on ultrafiltration (UF) membrane fouling caused by natural organic matter (NOM) were evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surface modification of UF membranes with functionalized MWCNTs to control membrane fouling by NOM fractions

TL;DR: In this article, an ultrafiltration (UF) membrane was modified using a surface coating of raw and functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), and the results indicated that the modified membranes had a rougher surface than the virgin membrane because of the modification layer of MWCNTs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Removal of iron, manganese and ammonia from groundwater using a PAC-MBR system: The anti-pollution ability, microbial population and membrane fouling

TL;DR: In this paper, a powdered activated carbon-amended membrane bioreactor (PAC-MBR) was designed for the treatment of groundwater (approximately Mn2+−1.2
Journal ArticleDOI

Biodiesel production with the simultaneous removal of nitrogen, phosphorus and COD in microalgal-bacterial communities for the treatment of anaerobic digestion effluent in photobioreactors

TL;DR: In this paper, the algal cells integrity, pollutants degradation and community compositions shifts were evaluated during the ADE treatment with simultaneous biodiesel accumulation in photobioreactors (PBRs).
