Unusual magnetic order in the pseudogap region of the superconductor HgBa2CuO4+δ

TL;DR: P polarized neutron diffraction is used to demonstrate for the model superconductor HgBa2CuO4+δ (Hg1201) that the characteristic temperature T* marks the onset of an unusual magnetic order, a demonstration of the universal existence of such a state.
Journal ArticleDOI

Connection between charge-density-wave order and charge transport in the cuprate superconductors

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that charge-density-wave correlations within the quintessential CuO$_2$ planes have been argued to either cause or compete with superconductivity in the cuprates, and they might furthermore drive the Fermi-surface reconstruction in high magnetic fields implied by quantum oscillation (QO) experiments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hidden magnetic excitation in the pseudogap phase of a high- T c superconductor

TL;DR: Inelastic neutron scattering results for HgBa2CuO4+δ reveal a fundamental collective magnetic mode associated with the unusual order and are consistent with a particular type of order involving circulating orbital currents, and with the notion that the phase diagram is controlled by a quantum critical point.
Journal ArticleDOI

Demonstrating the model nature of the high-temperature superconductor HgBa 2 CuO 4 + δ

TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that it is possible to identify suitable heat treatment conditions to systematically tune the hole concentration of Hg1201 crystals over a wide range, from very underdoped to overdoped.
