Sum frequency generation spectroscopic study of CO adsorption and dissociation on Pt(111) at high pressure and temperature

TL;DR: In this paper, surface vibrational spectroscopy using infrared-visible sum-frequency generation was applied to the study of CO adsorption on the Pt(111) surface under high CO pressure at various temperatures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optical constants of ice Ih crystal at terahertz frequencies

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the refractive indices of Ih crystalline ice in the frequency range of 0.25 −1.0 THz and showed that with increasing frequency, the real part, n′, of the this article index increases from 1.787 to 1.793 at 243 K, and the imaginary part increases from 0.005 to 0.020.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surface diffusion probed by linear optical diffraction

TL;DR: In this article, it is demonstrated that linear diffraction off an adsorbate monolayer grating can be used to study surface diffusion of the adsorbates, and the signal-to-noise ratio is greatly enhanced with a polarization modulation scheme.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wave mixing spectroscopy for surface studies

TL;DR: Optical second-harmonic generation and sum-frequency generation are intrinsically surface-specific. They can therefore be used as effective surface probes as discussed by the authors, and a wide range of applications found for these probes in recent years.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sum-frequency vibrational spectroscopic studies of Langmuir monolayers

TL;DR: A survey on the current status of sum-frequency vibrational spectroscopy studies of Langmuir monolayers with emphasis on the structures of both surfactant and interfacial water under various circumstances is given in this article.
