Journal ArticleDOI

Unprecedented genomic diversity of RNA viruses in arthropods reveals the ancestry of negative-sense RNA viruses

TL;DR: RNA sequencing of 70 arthropod species revealed that arthropods contain viruses that fall basal to major virus groups, including the vertebrate-specific arenaviruses, filoviruse, hantavirus, influenza viruses, lyssavirusing, and paramyxoviruses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Infection and pathogenesis of Huaiyangshan virus (a novel tick-borne bunyavirus) in laboratory rodents.

TL;DR: Huaiyangshan virus (HYSV) has been reported to cause haemorrhagic fever-like disease in mice and rats as discussed by the authors, but no animal experiments have been performed to study its pathogenesis.

Short Communication Infection and pathogenesis of Huaiyangshan virus (a novel tick-borne bunyavirus) in laboratory rodents

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that HYSV can cause a lethal infection of both newborn mice and newborn rats with apparent pathological damage of the liver, and this animal model may help to understand the pathogenesis of the HysV infection in humans.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamics of hantavirus infections in humans and animals in Wuhan city, Hubei, China

TL;DR: Serological and genetic analyses showed that Hantaan virus (HTNV) and Seoul virus (SEOV) co-circulated in rodents in Wuhan, and Phylogenetic analysis of the hantavirus sequences revealed that a novel genetic lineage of HTNV is present in rodent in W Uhan.
