Journal ArticleDOI
Colistin resistance gene mcr-1 in extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing and carbapenemase-producing Gram-negative bacteria in Germany
Linda Falgenhauer,Said-Elias Waezsada,Yancheng Yao,Can Imirzalioglu,Annemarie Käsbohrer,Uwe Roesler,Geovana Brenner Michael,Stefan Schwarz,Guido Werner,Lothar Kreienbrock,Trinad Chakraborty +10 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Enterobacter bugandensis: a novel enterobacterial species associated with severe clinical infection.
Niladri Bhusan Pati,Swapnil Doijad,Tilman Schultze,Gopala Krishna Mannala,Yancheng Yao,Sangeeta Jaiswal,Daniel Ryan,Mrutyunjay Suar,Konrad Gwozdzinski,Boyke Bunk,Mobarak Abu Mraheil,Mohamed A. Marahiel,Julian D. Hegemann,Cathrin Spröer,Alexander Goesmann,Linda Falgenhauer,Torsten Hain,Can Imirzalioglu,Stephen E. Mshana,Jörg Overmann,Trinad Chakraborty +20 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the extended spectrum ß-lactam producing isolate EB-247 is highly virulent in both Galleria mellonella and mouse models of infection and as efficient as Salmonella Typhimurium in inducing systemic infection and release of proinflammatory cytokines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enterobacter bugandensis sp. nov., isolated from neonatal blood.
Swapnil Doijad,Can Imirzalioglu,Yancheng Yao,Niladri Bhusan Pati,Linda Falgenhauer,Torsten Hain,Bärbel U. Foesel,Birte Abt,Jörg Overmann,Mariam M. Mirambo,Stephen E. Mshana,Trinad Chakraborty +11 more
TL;DR: These isolates obtained from blood during a septicaemia outbreak in a neonatal unit, Tanzania, possess sufficient characteristics to differentiate them from all recognized Enterobacter species, and should be considered as representing a novel species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insights into a Novel blaKPC-2-Encoding IncP-6 Plasmid Reveal Carbapenem-Resistance Circulation in Several Enterobacteriaceae Species from Wastewater and a Hospital Source in Spain.
Yancheng Yao,Fernando Lázaro-Perona,Linda Falgenhauer,Aránzazu Valverde,Can Imirzalioglu,Lucas Domínguez,Rafael Cantón,Jesús Mingorance,Trinad Chakraborty +8 more
TL;DR: The presence of a novel promiscuous blaKPC-2 plasmid circulating in environmental bacteria in wastewater and human populations is document here.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative genome analysis of IncHI2 VIM-1 carbapenemase-encoding plasmids of Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica isolated from a livestock farm in Germany.
Linda Falgenhauer,Hiren Ghosh,Beatriz Guerra,Yancheng Yao,Moritz Fritzenwanker,Jennie Fischer,Reiner Helmuth,Can Imirzalioglu,Trinad Chakraborty +8 more
TL;DR: The presence of VIM-1 carbapenemases in a livestock farm in Germany was reported for the first time and the plasmids showed to harbour blaVIM- 1, aacA4, aadA1, sul1, qacEΔ, as well as blaACC-1, strA/strB, and catA1 genes together with resistance to heavy metals.
