Journal ArticleDOI
Iodine deficiency and excess coexist in china and induce thyroid dysfunction and disease: a cross-sectional study.
TL;DR: Thyroid nodules are more likely to be present in the iodine excess and deficient areas than in the iodine sufficient areas, and Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) was significantly correlated with excess iodine intake.
Journal ArticleDOI
Associations between XRCC1 Arg399Gln, Arg194Trp, and Arg280His polymorphisms and risk of differentiated thyroid carcinoma: a meta-analysis.
TL;DR: The meta-analysis suggests that XRCC1 Arg194Trp may be a risk factor for DTC development, and the dominant model of Arg280His polymorphism contributed to DTC susceptibility in Caucasians.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nitric oxide is involved in the hypothyroidism with significant morphology changes in female Wistar rats induced by chronic exposure to high water iodine from potassium iodate.
Shengzhong Rong,Yanhui Gao,Yanmei Yang,Hanwen Shao,Akinkunmi Paul Okekunle,Chunpeng Lv,Yang Du,Hongna Sun,Yuting Jiang,Gottfried M. Darko,Dianjun Sun +10 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that chronic exposure to high water iodine from KIO3 likely induces hypothyroidism with significant morphology changes in female Wistar rats and NO appears to be involved in the pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative analysis of five correction methods for thyroid volume by ultrasound and their recommended reference values in Chinese children aged 8–10 years
Lanchun Liu,Tingting Qian,Rong Sun,Yang Du,Ming yue Li,Lixiang Liu,Peng Liu,Li Jun Fan,Fangang Meng +8 more
TL;DR: BSAV was the best method of TVOL correction in this research, as no significant difference was found in TVOL and thyroid goitre rate between children with normal and abnormal thyroid function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time Series and Spatial Epidemiological Analysis of the Prevalence of Iodine Deficiency Disorders in China.
Li Jun Fan,Yunyan Gao,Fangang Meng,Changpin Li,Lanchun Liu,Yang Du,Li Liu,Ming yue Li,Xiaohui Su,Shoujun Liu,Peng Li +10 more
TL;DR: Iodine nutrition in China showed gradual improvements, however, a recent decline has been observed in some areas following changes in the iodized salt supply, and more regulations regarding salt management should be issued to strengthen IDD control and prevention measures, and avoid the recurrence of IDD.
