Journal ArticleDOI

Oceanic plateau formation by seafloor spreading implied by Tamu Massif magnetic anomalies

TL;DR: In this article, a magnetic anomaly map for the Shatsky Rise oceanic plateau is presented, which can provide clues about crustal formation, and suggests that the widely accepted analogy between continental flood basalts and oceanic plateaus requires reconsideration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Magnetic anomaly map of Ori Massif and its implications for oceanic plateau formation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined magnetic anomalies over and around Ori Massif to obtain insights about the formation of this volcanic edifice and found that it is predominantly characterized by linear magnetic anomalies resulting from alternating normal and reversed polarity magnetization blocks, analogous to magnetic anomalies recorded by spreading-ridges.
Journal ArticleDOI

Moho Structure of the Southwest Sub-Basin, South China Sea, from a Multichannel Seismic Reflection Profile NH973-1

TL;DR: In this article, multichannel seismic (MCS) reflection data of line NH973-1 that crosses SWSB in NW-SE direction were reprocessed in order to image Moho structure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Secondary Cones of the Shatsky Rise and Implications for Late-Stage Volcanism Atop Oceanic Plateaus

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used bathymetric data to discover 286 secondary cones over Shatsky Rise oceanic plateau, which are morphologically distinct from the main volcanic episodes.
