Pressureless sintering of titanium carbide doped with boron or boron carbide

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a pressureless sintered TiC with different contents of boron or B 4 C to achieve high fracture toughness and flexural strength.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coating SiC on Zircaloy-4 by magnetron sputtering at room temperature

TL;DR: In this paper, a room-temperature magnetron sputtering method was used to deposit SiC films onto Zircaloy-4 substrate, and a dense SiC film with high values of hardness (25.61 ± 1.61 GPa), elastic modulus (214.9 ± 2.9 GPa) and critical load (8.24 ± 3.24 N) was obtained.
Journal ArticleDOI

Corrosion behavior of TiC-SiC composite ceramics in molten FLiNaK salt

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors performed immersion corrosion tests of TiC0.8, TiC, TIC-40 vol% SiC and SiC-20 vol% TIC for 25-200 h under argon cover gas and found that SiC exhibited a general corrosion process in which a carbon rich layer formed on the surface resulting from the depletion of Si.
Journal ArticleDOI

Anisotropic corrosion of Ti2AlC and Ti3AlC2 in supercritical water at 500 ºC

TL;DR: In this paper, textured and untextured M n+1 AX n compounds, namely MAX phases have been synthesized and examined with respect to their corrosion resistance in static supercritical water at 500°C.
