Journal ArticleDOI

Quasi first order transitions for an n-component field in one dimension

TL;DR: In this paper, an n -component 1-D field theoretic model exhibiting first and second transitions in the mean field approximation is studied by exact methods, and the second order transitions are found to broaden but a line of first order transitions terminating at a critical point remains.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

The phase transition in Josephson junction arrays

Yoseph Imry
TL;DR: In this paper, the phase locking in both parallel connected Josephson junctions and weakly coupled superconducting particles is discussed, and the critical behaviour near the transition to the phase coherent state, as well as the I•V characteristics, can probe the dynamics of the x-y model.
Book ChapterDOI

Decoherence in Disordered Conductors at Low Temperatures: The Effect of Soft Local Excitations

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that when strictly linear transport is used, the apparent low-temperature saturation of the conduction electron dephasing rate is eliminated, unless a large ground state degeneracy exists.
