Land use and climate change effects on soil erosion in a semi-arid mountainous watershed (High Atlas, Morocco)

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors simulate the evolution of soil erosion in a semi-arid watershed (225 km2, High Atlas Mountains, Morocco) under different scenarios of climate and land use change to the end of 21st century.
Journal ArticleDOI

Soil tillage and scale effects on erosion from fields to catchment in a Mediterranean vineyard area

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed a dataset of 18 rainfall events including runoff and erosion data from fields of approximately 1200 m2 and 3200 m2 consisting of vineyards with two contrasting weeding practices, either superficial tillage or no-tillage with chemical weeding, from the outlet of a 0.91 km2 catchment that was 70% vineyard.
Journal ArticleDOI

A method for modeling the effects of climate and land use changes on erosion and sustainability of soil in a Mediterranean watershed (Languedoc, France)

TL;DR: Among the scenarios tested, institution of a mandatory grass cover in vineyards seems to be an efficient means of significantly improving soil sustainability, both in terms of decreased soil erosion rates and increased soil life expectancies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relative Contribution of Rill/Interrill and Gully/Channel Erosion to Small Reservoir Siltation in Mediterranean Environments

TL;DR: In this article, a fingerprinting method based on measurements of caesium-137 and total organic carbon combined with long-term field monitoring of catchment sediment yield was applied to five catchments in order to cover the diversity of environmental conditions found along the Tunisian Ridge and in the Cape Bon region.
