Abstract: Jurassic fossil vertebrates collected from the Falla Formation in the Central Transantarctic Mountains included a partial skull and postcranial elements of a crested theropod, Cryolophosaurus ellioti gen. nov. sp. nov. The theropod bears some resemblance to the large tetanurans of the Middle to Late Jurassic but also has primitive ceratosaurian features. Elements from a prosauropod, teeth from scavenging theropods, a pterosaur humerus, and a tritylodont molar were also recovered. The presence of this fauna suggests that a mild climate existed at high paleolatitude in this area of Gondwana during the Early Jurassic.

Abstract: This study examined antecedents to involuntary turnover due to a reduction in force. The authors used structural equation modeling and logit regression analysis with a sample of 194 salespeople to test an exploratory process model of involuntary turnover. Results showed that general mental ability and conscientiousness were indirectly correlated with involuntary turnover through job performance, whereas the relationship of tenure, gender, job involvement, sales volume, and supervisory ratings of job performance to turnover was direct. The results demonstrate that involuntary turnover decisions are significantly related to performance; however, other variables also influenced these decisions. Implications and future research needs are discussed.

Abstract: In the USA there has been a reassessment of public and faculty attitudes to higher education and its practices. One concern has been the priority faculty and administrators in different disciplines attach to the roles and rewards accorded to teaching, research and public service. The Association of American Geographers (AAG) set up a task force to examine these issues with respect to geography. The proposals of that task force are presented here together with an introduction by Ron Abler, the AAG's Executive Director. These proposals have now been sent to all US geography departments for consideration. They should interest geography associations and departments in other countries, where the tension between faculty roles and rewards are issues for staff and/or public concern.

Abstract: RIASSUNTO Poche ma significative note di lavoro di Galileo trattano di esperimenti. Questo articolo esamina un manoscritto (folio 189v). Si sostiene che esso e il resoconto di un esperimento preciso nel quale Galileo determina empiricamente i tempi di caduta per archi e corde (pendoli e piani) e quindi sviluppa un metodo per determinare il tempo di caduta per una data altezza, dato il quarto di periodo di un pendolo. L'analisi dimostra anche che Galileo fu consapevole del non isocronismo del pendolo (nonostante nelle sue pubblicazioni abbia affermato il contrario). Fu anche consapevole dell'inerzia di rotazione e misuro abbastanza precisamente i suoi effetti. Qui si discute in modo circostanziato tale tesi e si prendono in considerazione le ragioni che indussero Galileo a non pubblicare questi risultati.

Abstract: The search for community manifest in society today reflects the apparent alienation, unconnectedness, and superficiality of modern life. A group of nurses in education and service created a community filled with caring and trust that designed the Healing Web, a transformative model for nursing. The web was established to create partnerships that will transform the health care paradigm of society. By establishing and maintaining a healing community within nursing and the larger universe, wholistic and integrative life will be restored.

It is too short to be useful and may even mislead or confuse those not familiar with various schools ofthought. On balance, however, this is an excellent study. There are few serious scholarly books that are as well written and accessible to an educated general public as this one.
