TL;DR: On mycoflora analysis of dried fruits and seeds of chilli stored for six months, Aspergillus flavus and A. niger were the more frequent out of eighteen fungi isolated and Citral, Eugenol and Nerol exhibited a broad range of toxicity and were found to be more efficacious than some synthetic fungicides.
Abstract: On mycoflora analysis of dried fruits and seeds of chilli stored for six months, Aspergillus flavus and A. niger were the more frequent out of eighteen fungi isolated. Some terpenoids viz, Citral, Citronellal, Citronellol, Eugenol, Farnesol and Nerol showed absolute toxicity against A. flavus and A. niger at 0.5 per cent concentration. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and nature (fungistatic/fungicidal) of all the terpenoids against both these fungi were determined, Citral, Eugenol and Nerol exhibited a broad range of toxicity and were found to be more efficacious than some synthetic fungicides.

TL;DR: In this paper, phase diagrams were determined experimentally to get the exact compositions of eutectics and molecular complexes and data on crystallization velocity obey the relation V = u(ΔT) n where ΔT is undercooling, u and n are constant.
Abstract: Crystallization behavior and nature of complexation have been studied for the naptha-lene-picric acid and anthracene-picric acid systems. Phase diagrams were determined experimentally to get the exact compositions of eutectics and molecular complexes. Data on crystallization velocity obey the relation V = u(ΔT) n where ΔT is undercooling, u and n are constant. Experimental values of heats of fusion do not go in subordination with mixture law. Infra-red and ultraviolet-visible spectral studies indicate the charge transfer interactions in both systems.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that there is a definite relationship between the structure of a polymer chain and their thermo-oxidative stability, and that the polymers with more cyclic structures in a chain tend to be stiffer and more resistant to deformation.
Abstract: Polyarylates were synthesized by the acidolysis of the diacetates of dihydric phenols with diacids using a melt-polymerization technique. These polymers were characterized by solution viscosity, number-average molecular weight and IR spectra. Thermal stability of these polyarylates were studied by dynamic TG in the presence of air. Relative thermal stabilities were compared at the 50% mass loss of a given polymer (T h value). The data presented revealed that there is a definite relationship between the structure of a polymer chain and their thermo-oxidative stability. TheT h values of some of these polyesters were found to be higher than those reported for highly stable fluoro-carbon polymers (e.g. PTFE). It was observed that the polymers with more cyclic structures in a chain tend to be stiffer and more resistant to deformation. A chain backbone consisting of large number of aromatic groups induced chain stiffening because of chain inflexibility, resonance effects and steric effects.

TL;DR: In this paper, the electrical conductivity, σ, and thermoelectric power, S, of copper chromite (CuCr2O4) were reported in the temperature range 295 to 815 K.
Abstract: The electrical conductivity, σ, and thermoelectric power, S, of copper chromite (CuCr2O4) are reported in the temperature range 295 to 815 K A break (TB) in the slope of the plot of log σ against T−1 was observed around 556 K Apart from this break, the curves are linear, and their slopes correspond to activation energies of 060 eV (TB 556 K) A break (T′B) in the slope of the -S against T−1 plot was also observed round 556 K Apart from the break at this temperature, the S against T−1 curves are linear At T′B>556, S can be expressed by the relation $$S = - \left[ {\left( {\frac{{065 eV}}{{{\text{2}}eT}}} \right) + (042) mV K^{ - {\text{1}}} } \right]$$ The mechanism involved in the electrical transport is the hopping of holes from Cr4+ centres to neighbouring Cr3+ ions The typical hopping mobility of the holes is of the order of 106 m2 V−1 sec−1 The mobility activation energy of the holes in CuCr2O4 decreases with temperature due to the smoothing of the potential barriers between Cr4+ and Cr3+ sites

Abstract: Strong cylindrical magnetogasdynamic shock waves in rotating interplanetary medium has been studied and an analytic solution for their propagation has been obtained. Using characteristic method and considering the effect of Coriolis force, we have shown that magnetic field has significant effect on the velocity of the shock wave.

TL;DR: In this article, the relative effects of chronological age and experiential deprivation upon pictorial recognition were investigated, and the results revealed significant main effects of age and deprivation on pictorial learning.
Abstract: The relative effects of chronological age and experiential deprivation upon pictorial recognition were investigated. Following a 4 x 2 factorial design four age levels (4-5, 5-6, 6-7 and 7-8 years) and two levels of deprivation (low/high) were manipulated. There were 50 subjects in each cell i.e., a total of 400 subjects. All subjects performed on pictorial recognition task individually. The results revealed significant main effects of age and deprivation. The interaction between age and deprivation was also significant. Longitudinal analysis of part of the data also supported these results. It appears that recognition memory increases with age and experiential deprivation interfers with the growth of recognition capacity in children.

TL;DR: The structure and thermal stability of different colored thallous tungstates were determined by powder X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively, in this paper.
Abstract: Different coloured thallous tungstates were prepared by solid state reaction between thallous carbonate and tungsten trioxide at higher temperatures. The structure and thermal stability of different thallous tungstates were determined by powder X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively. The electrical conductivity (σ) and thermoelectric power (5) of pressed solid pellets of Tl2WO4 are reported in the temperature range 295 to 950 K. It is concluded that these materials have large numbers of oxygen ion vacancies and conduction occurs due to the electrons left by oxygen ions while escaping the solid. These electrons are trapped in the valence band and form centres analogous to a helium atom and electrical conductivity results when they enter the conduction band. The values of donor ionization energies have also been evaluated.
