TL;DR: The history and overview of the documented use of adventure experiences in marriage and family therapy and enrichment and recommendations for guiding future studies are presented.
Abstract: outdoor adventure experiences, traditionally associated with programs like Outward Bound and Project Adventure, have evolved into specific interventions for a number of therapeutic populations. Once used primarily with dysfunctional adolescents, a series of presentations and writings have emerged that apply these techniques to marriage and family populations. This article presents a brief history and overview of the documented use of adventure experiences in marriage and family therapy and enrichment. Illustrations of actual techniques and recommendations for guiding future studies are also offered.

TL;DR: First-responder automated defibrillation/paramedic systems provide not only shorter times to initial countershock, as compared with basic EMT/paramsic systems, but by having delegated initial countersHock to first-responders, they also allow for significantly shorter times from paramedic arrival to IV access, endotracheal intubation, and initial adrenergic drug therapy interventions.

TL;DR: Qualitative evidence supported the conclusion that posterior parietal cortex plays an important role in integrating visuospatial stimuli with motor responses and suggested that a generalized retardation in cognitive functions follows injuries in these sites.

TL;DR: It is concluded that, under appropriate conditions, rats with injuries in these posterior association regions can learn and perform a task requiring the execution of different spatial responses on the basis of visual landmark cues that are spatially discontiguous from the escape site.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a lysimeter system with a controlled environment for measuring the potential movement of pesticides through golf course greens designed to simulate United States Golf Association specifications. But they did not consider the use of artificial grass.
Abstract: There is an increasing concern for the potential movement of chemicals from the treated sites following the use of certain management strategies for turfgrass maintenance. In some areas, these concerns are being translated into proposed government regulations for turf-grass management that could reduce amounts of chemicals available for the management strategies. The objective of this study was to develop a lysimeter system with a controlled environment for measuring the potential movement of pesticides through golf course greens designed to simulate United States Golf Association specifications [...]

TL;DR: A self-administered mail survey, utilizing a sampling frame consisting of a directory of criminal justice educators, assessed the extent to which computer-based instruction is being used nationally in criminal justice education programs as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The major purpose of this study was to assess the extent to which computer-based instruction is being used nationally in criminal justice education programs. Although some published studies have been performed with computer-based instruction in criminal justice training environments, little knowledge exists concerning the extent to which computer-based instruction is used in traditional academic environments. A self-administered mail survey, utilizing a sampling frame consisting of a directory of criminal justice educators, assessed the extent to which computer-based instruction is being used nationally in criminal justice education programs. The results of this survey: present concerned criminal justice educators an opportunity to examine computer-based instruction applications in criminal justice education settings by providing a basis for comparing individual programs to some national norm; reveal that a less than optimum use of computer-based instruction exists in criminal justice education programs; ...

TL;DR: The color-magnitude diagrams presented in this article indicate that this object has a young population of stars with a narrow age range, consistent with the characteristics of an open star cluster or stellar association.
Abstract: CCD photometry of Andromeda IV was obtained during discretionary time in August of 1989 at the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope on Mauna Kea and the data were reduced at CFHT during the summer of 1991. And IV has been catalogued both as a dwarf galaxy and as an open star cluster in M31. The color-magnitude diagrams presented indicate that this object has a young population of stars with a narrow age range, consistent with the characteristics of an open star cluster or stellar association. A radial velocity measurement taken from the literature and analyzed with respect to the rotation curve of M31 indicates this object resides in the disk of the Andromeda Galaxy, strengthening the conclusion that it is indeed a very large open star cluster or a densely populated stellar association rather than a dwarf irregular galaxy.

TL;DR: In this paper, the characteristics, reasons, and unmet school needs of students with disabilities who have dropped out of school in seventeen southern Appalachian counties were investigated and the average dropout was a 16 year old white male who was entering the ninth grade and who had not previously been employed.
Abstract: Although the literature suggests there is a high rate of dropping out of school even among students receiving special education, there is a paucity of research dealing with circumstances surrounding the special education student who leaves school prematurely. This study investigated the characteristics, reasons, and unmet school needs of students with disabilities who have dropped out of school in seventeen southern Appalachian counties. Data were collected on 135 student dropouts by polling those teachers who reported having dropouts. Results indicated that the average dropout was a 16 year old white male who was entering the ninth grade and who had not previously been employed. Future dropout prevention programs for this population therefore should begin before high school, be geared toward white males, and include instruction in the world of work.
