23 Oct 1995TL;DR: An approach to image fusion using the wavelet transform, which allows experimentation with various wavelet array combination and manipulation methods for image fusion, using a set of basic operations on wavelet frequency blocks.
Abstract: This paper describes an approach to image fusion using the wavelet transform. When images are merged in wavelet space, we can process different frequency ranges differently. For example, high frequency information from one image can be combined with lower frequency information from another, for performing edge enhancement. We have built a prototype system that allows experimentation with various wavelet array combination and manipulation methods for image fusion, using a set of basic operations on wavelet frequency blocks. Problems caused by image misregistration and processing artifacts are described. Examples of wavelet fusion results are shown which merge a pair of images from different sensors.

14 Dec 1992TL;DR: In this paper, an improved system for administration of license terms for a software product on the network, having an arrangement, for tracking software product usage, with one of the computers acting as a license server, is presented.
Abstract: An improved system for administration of license terms for a software product on the network, having an arrangement, for tracking software product usage, with one of the computers acting as a license server. This arrangement permits the license server (i) to identify the current set of nodes that are using the software product, (ii) to handle license data concerning conditions under which usage of the software product is permitted at any given node, and (iii) to determine whether at any given time the conditions would be satisfied if a given node is added to this set of nodes. The software product may thus include instructions to interface with the license server to cause enforcement of the license terms. The improvement, in one embodiment, to the system includes a policy server database maintained on each node, containing data specifying conditions under which usage of the software product is permitted on the corresponding node. Each node also has a policy server "daemon" in association with the corresponding policy server database, for (i) communicating with the license server, (ii) interfacing with both the software product and the corresponding policy server database, (iii) enforcing the license terms applicable to the software product at a given local node on the basis of both license policy maintained at the local node as well as applicable data from the license server.

01 Sep 1995TL;DR: An approach to image fusion using the wavelet transform is described, which allows experimentation with various wavelet array combination and manipulation methods for image fusion, using a set of basic operations on wavelet frequency blocks.
Abstract: As new remote sensing systems are deployed, we will see an increase in the amount of image data available at different wavelengths. Also, images from a single sensor over the same area often exhibit clouds, forcing analysts to switch among several images or to mosaic the images by manually defining cutlines to eliminate clouds. The ability to fuse multiple images over the same area, and to have the fused product exhibit, in a single image, the important details visible in individual bands has become crucial in dealing with the large volume of data available. We describe an approach to image fusion using the wavelet transform. Examples of wavelet fusion results are shown, along with test images that clarify behavior of the wavelet fusion methods used.© (1995) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering. TL;DR: Using a refined technique for remote determination of TiO2, this article found that the maria actually vary continuously from low to high values, and that the reason for the discrepancy is that the nine lunar sample return missions were not situated near intermediate basalt regions.
Abstract: — Lunar mare basalt sample data suggest that there is a bimodal distribution of TiO2 concentrations. Using a refined technique for remote determination of TiO2, we find that the maria actually vary continuously from low to high values. The reason for the discrepancy is that the nine lunar sample return missions were not situated near intermediate basalt regions. Moreover, maria with 2–4 wt% TiO2 are most abundant, and abundance decreases with increasing TiO2. Maria surfaces with TiO2 >5 wt% constitute only 20% of the maria. Although impact mixing of basalts with differing Ti concentrations may smear out the distribution and decrease the abundance of high-Ti basalts, the distribution of basalt Ti contents probably reflects both the relative abundances of ilmenite-free and ilmenite-bearing mantle sources. This distribution is consistent with models of the formation of mare source regions as cumulates from the lunar magma ocean.
