TL;DR: Results show that forecasting error by the developed method is quickly converged to minimum error of the ideal state estimation with previously known noise properties.
Abstract: A precise short-term forecasting method for estimating the status of systems is required for on-line real-time control of complex power systems. In this paper, some state estimation type modelings of load forecasting are introduced, and a few practical problems for applying state estimation are discussed. In [11] the identification algorithms of the covariance matrices of system and observation noise are developed using observed data series, and their experimental results by simulation model are discussed. Results show that forecasting error by the developed method is quickly converged to minimum error of the ideal state estimation with previously known noise properties.

TL;DR: In this article, the structural properties of a styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block copolymer obtained by casting from toluene, carbon tetrachloride, ethyl acetate, and methyl ethyl ketone are discussed.
Abstract: Electron-microscopic texture and physical properties of a styrene–butadiene–styrene (SBS) block copolymer obtained by casting from toluene, carbon tetrachloride, ethyl acetate, and methyl ethyl ketone are discussed. Two peaks are observed in the mechanical loss (tan delta;) curve at −70 and 100°C which are attributed to segmental motion of polybutadiene and polystyrene, respectively. The polybutadiene peak heights are in the order of solubility in the solvent used; the polystyrene peak heights are in converse order. In addition to these peaks, a third peak is observed at 10°C for specimens cast from ethyl acetate or methyl ethyl ketone. A transition corresponding to this peak is also noticed in thermal analysis. It is proposed that aggregation of styrene blocks is relatively incomplete in specimens cast from solution in poor solvents.

TL;DR: In this paper, a stripe type conductive electrodes on both sides of an electroluminous layer in differing and crossing directions to each other to provide a matrix arrangement for selectively enabling a desired image to be formed.
Abstract: A solid state display device has stripe type conductive electrodes on both sides of an electroluminous layer in differing and crossing directions to each other to provide a matrix arrangement for selectively enabling a desired image to be formed. A non-crystalline switching type semiconductor is placed on said electroluminous layer to provide a memory capability for the display device upon obtainment of a light image. Switching elements are connected to each stripe type conductive electrode to enable the selective control of luminescence at a matrix point. The switch elements are selectively turned on and off in accordance with the generating of initiating pulses from a pair of electrode sources, whereby the image is controlled in the desired manner.

TL;DR: In this paper, a magnetic head and a pinch roller on a subordinate base member are used to enable insertion and removal of the cassette by a simple operation and further provide high stability against vibration.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a cassette type tape recorder which readily permits insertion and removal of the cassette by a simple operation and further provides high stability against vibration. The tape recorder is operated simply by inserting a horizontally disposed cassette through an inlet provided on an operating panel and pushing down a handle, and the cassette is easily removed by just pushing a releasing button. The recorder is provided with a magnetic head and a pinch roller on a subordinate base member which is slidably disposed on a main base member. A bridge member having a holder in which the cassette is horizontally inserted is pivotally joined to the main base member through an arrangement of joint shafts and connecting rods for vertically moving the same within the recorder. A cam surface on the bridge member is engaged with a set roller provided on the subordinate base member so that the bridge member is retained in the lower position and the recorder in an operating condition when the bridge member reaches the end of its downward stroke. On the other hand, the cam of the bridge member is disengaged from the set roller of the subordinate base, allowing the bridge member to automatically move upward under the urging of a spring, and consequently to stop the operation of the recorder, whenever a release button fixed on one end of the subordinate base member is pushed.

TL;DR: In this article, a new method of temperature compensation for a dc logarithmic amplifier is presented, where temperature effect on both parallel shift and slope variance of log I vs. VBE curve can be compensated easily by using only one compensating resistor of copper wire wound type.
Abstract: A new method of temperature compensation for a dc logarithmic amplifier is presented. By this method temperature effect on both parallel shift and slope variance of log I vs. VBE curve can be compensated easily by using only one compensating resistor of copper wire wound type. (hereafter called parallel and slope compensations.) An absolute compensation condition can be determined for each type of logarithmic transistors, like silicon NPN, germanium PNP irrespective of current measuring range. The temperature dependence of the logarithmic amplifier is reduced to 0.01 decade for the temperature range from 0°C to 50°C and the current range from 10-11 to 10-3A.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a duct wall for a combustion chamber with at least one heat resisting block of electrically insulating material having one surface exposed to a working fluid and the opposed surface metallized and brazed to a metallic member which is in contact with a cooling fluid.
Abstract: 1,212,416. Combustion chamber walls. MITSUBISHI DENKI K.K. 10 April, 1968 [24 April, 1967; 15 June, 1967; 1 Aug., 1967 (3)], No. 17215/68. Heading F4B. [Also in Division H2] A duct wall for a combustion chamber includes at least one heat resisting block of electrically insulating material having one surface exposed to a working fluid and the opposed surface metallized and brazed to a metallic member which is in contact with a cooling fluid. In the simplest form, the refractory blocks, of alumina, magnesia or beryllia, have the metallized surface brazed directly on to a cooling tube, Fig. 6 (not shown). Preferably however, the metallized layers 43 on the blocks 42 are brazed to metallic members 24 which are secured on to protrusions 44 on the wall of cooling tube 34. The gaps between the blocks are filled with a synthetic resin surfaced by refractory material 32, alternatively only refractory material may be used. The surface 10 of the wall may be sealed by a continuous layer of refractory material applied by a plasma torch, Fig. 7 (not shown). The construction may be modified by altering the shape of member 24 to support a plurality of refractory blocks or alternatively it may be replaced by a metal plate which is either an inverted U-shape to provide a cooling channel or attached to a further member of insulating material bored to provide coolant passages. Each block may form a module which can be secured together and sealed with 0-ring seals, Figs. 8 and 12 (not shown).

Abstract: As a part a national project of Japan Agency of Industrial Science & Technology of the MHD power generation, a large superconducting magnet has been built and tested. The magnet has an overall length of 77.4cm, a bore diameter of 10.0cm, an outside diameter of 78.4cm and a weight of 1, 600kg, and composes of three separate pancake coils. The outer two coils and the inner coil were wound with composite superconductors of 1.0cm width by 0.14cm thickness and 1.5cm by 0.20cm, respectively. The conductor is a composite consisting of ten copper-clad Ti-Nb-Ta superconducting wires soldered on a flat side of a copper strip. The test results indicated that the magnet system was capable of stable operation at magnetic field of 75kG. The maximum current supplied to the coils in series was 800A at this operation.

Abstract: Copper is an important component to produce a stable and protected superconducting magnet. The electrical properties of commercially available copper under magnetic field and mechanical force are discussed. The resistivity of OFHC copper under magnetic field more than 10kG increases steadily with a gradient of about 4.5×10-10Ω-cm/kG. The gradient is independent of the amount of cold work. The resistivity ratio (ρ300°K/ρ4.2°K) of Electrolytic tough pitch copper is better than OFHC copper. The resistivity ratios of commercially available ETP copper are 150-350 and those of OFHC copper are 120-250.

Abstract: Extended bunching effect is derived in calculating an average coincidence rate of photons from transitions of two sorts. The calculations are made on the basis of Glauber's theory with an assumption relating an ensemble average of numbers of photons to a transition probability. A new type of high resolution spectroscopy using the effect is proposed.
