TL;DR: Values of V for lactate dehydrogenase isoenzymes 1 and 3 did not follow a simple Arrhenius relationship; there was a rapid change in activity between 16 and 23 degrees C, and the apparent Km (pyruvate) values of all isoenZymes increased with increasing temperature, changing 4--10-fold.
Abstract: A comparison was made of some kinetic properties of three chicken lactate dehydrogenase iso-enzynmes (1, 3 and 5) at 4, 16, 23 and 40 °C. Assays were performed with an enzyme concentration of 0.01 μM at pH 6.0. Under the conditions of assay, lactate dehydrogenase 3 and 5 bound to the particular fraction of homogenized skeletal muscle and were evaluated in the soluble and particulate state. Binding of isoenzymes 3 and 5 to the cellular particulate fraction decreased V. This decrease was much greater for lactate dehydrogenase 5 than 3. Values of V for lactate dehydrogenase isoenzymes 1 and 3 did not follow a simple Arrhenius relationship; there was a rapid change in activity between 16 and 23 °C. The apparent Km (pyruvate) values of all isoenzymes (bound or soluble) increased with increasing temperature, changing 4—10-fold. The apparent Km for lactate dehydrogenase 5 was greater than that for lactate dehydrogenase 3, which in turn was greater than that for lactate dehydrogenase 1.

TL;DR: Parti Islam Se Malaysia (PAS) as mentioned in this paper is the leading opposition party in Malaysia's National Front coalition, and its position is second only to that of the Alliance within the National Front.
Abstract: Prior to entering a coalition with the ruling Alliance party at the beginning of 1973, and incorporation in the broader National Front coalition in June 1974 Parti Islam Se Malaysia (usually abbreviated to Party Islam or PAS, though until recently widely known as the Pan Malayan Islamic Party) had long been established as Malaysia's leading opposition party; within the National Front its position is second only to that of the Alliance. Nonetheless political scientists and historians have devoted little attention to this party, though they have almost uniformly condemned it for an alleged association with a most reactionary form of Malay communalism. Not surprisingly the picture that has emerged is partial and rather obscure. For example, we know little of the events surrounding the party's origins and its initial formative years: virtually all accounts of PAS begin with its successes in the 1959 national and state elections, and the few statements hazarded on its earlier history have been incomplete and factually wrong. In this article I want to clarify some of the factual confusion relating to these events, and to offer an interpretation of the various ideological forces that gave rise to the formation of this party.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used continuous shear viscometry and creep testing on two major mesophases previously found in systems containing phosphated nonyphenol ethoxylate (PNE), phosphated fatty alcohol (PFE), water and n-hexane.
Abstract: Rheological measurements have been carried out using continuous shear viscometry and creep testing on two major mesophases previously found in systems containing phosphated nonyphenol ethoxylate (PNE), phosphated fatty alcohol ethoxylate (PFE), water andn-hexane. Systems containing lamellar liquid crystals exhibited a clockwise (rheopectic) hysteresis loop on the Ferranti-Shirley cone-and-plate viscometer which increased in area with increasing water content. On the other hand, both the hexagonal liquid crystalline phase and an intermediate amorphous gel phase showed an anti-clockwise (thixotropic) hysteresis.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that the en echelon crenulations represent igneous rock intruded into or extruded through tension gashes which developed in lava that overlie strike-slip faults and through movement along these faults.

TL;DR: In this article, error analysis is used to help increase our knowledge of what these &dquo;predictable errors are, and to increase our understanding of what they are.
Abstract: It is known that for a number of reasons students of a particular language group will certainly have .special difficulties in learning certain features of a second language. Many teachers in Malaysia, for example, who have taught English as a Second Language for some years and marked quite literally thousands of English compositions, have already developed well-based but often impressionistic ideas about those aspects of the English Language that seem to pose recurring problems for the students. These are commonly referred to as &dquo;predictable errors&dquo;. Error analysis is one way to help increase our knowledge of what these &dquo;predictable errors&dquo; are.

TL;DR: This paper found that language plays a minor part in the acquisition of cognitive concepts and that young children will perform at a slightly higher level on these tasks if tested in their native language than when tested in English and Malay.
Abstract: Following earlier work with Polish- and German-speaking children in Australia, a group of five-year-old Malaysian children bilingual in English and Malay and English and Chinese were pretested in both languages. They were then trained in one language on the conservation of weight, posttested on their other language, and again from one to two months later in both languages. Immediate improvements were obtained after training, but other untrained control groups also showed improvement on the delayed posttest. These results are considered together with the previous results. It is concluded that language plays a minor part in the acquisition of cognitive concepts and that young children will perform at a slightly higher level on these tasks if tested in their native language.
