TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the energy-growth nexus in ten oil-exporting developing Eurasian countries: Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE over the period 1997-2014.
Abstract: The paper examines the energy-growth nexus in ten oil-exporting developing Eurasian countries: Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE over the period 1997–2014. Lack of enough energy-growth nexus studies on the oil exporters of the Middle East and Commonwealth of Independent States coupled with a number of issues, which have not been addressed by prior studies motivate us to conduct this review. Policymakers should take into consideration that any policy measures aimed at conserving the Primary Energy Consumption can undermine economic growth, as we find that the growth hypothesis dominates in the Primary Energy Consumption-growth nexus. Conversely, validity of the neutrality hypothesis in the Residential Electricity Consumption-growth nexus, another finding of this study, implies that policymakers can pursue conservation policy by reconsidering the residential electricity subsidies in the selected countries. The study contributes to the energy-growth literature by addressing some issues and filling the gap for the Eurasian oil exporting countries, especially those in the Middle East and Commonwealth of Independent States.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors empirically tested four hypotheses of the Dutch Disease in the Azerbaijan economy while systematically controlling for other possible explanations of the observed processes over the period 2000-2007.
Abstract: The novelty of this study is that it empirically tests four hypotheses of the Dutch Disease in the Azerbaijan economy while systematically controls for other possible explanations of the observed processes over the period 2000–2007. The study concludes that an “absolute de-industrialization” has not taken place in Azerbaijan, rather the country suffers from a “relative de-industrialization” in the non-oil tradable sector. Additionally, the paper shows that the non-tradable sector has substantially expanded during the 2000–2007 period. Analysis also presents that the government expenditures have created a “spending effect”, which is more crucial than the “resource movement effect”. Furthermore, it was found that rapid increases in the wages and the non-tradable prices have led to appreciation of the real exchange rate in Azerbaijan. Finally, the study reveals that foreign direct investments inflow to the oil sector is harmful for non-oil exports and therefore, it contributes to deepening of resource, or oil, dependence. Findings in this paper support the view that to obtain a diversified economy with a long-term balanced growth development of the non-oil tradable sector should be of the major focus for the policymakers.

TL;DR: The pyrrole derivatives having carbonyl groups at the C-2 position were converted to N-propargyl pyrroles and 5H-pyrrolo[2,1-d][1,2,5]triazepine derivatives were formed, and the results obtained were supported by theoretical calculations.
Abstract: The pyrrole derivatives having carbonyl groups at the C-2 position were converted to N-propargyl pyrroles. The reaction of those compounds with hydrazine monohydrate resulted in the formation of 5H-pyrrolo[2,1-d][1,2,5]triazepine derivatives. The synthesis of these compounds was accomplished in three steps starting from pyrrole. On the other hand, attempted cyclization of a pyrrole ester substituted with a propargyl group at the nitrogen atom gave, unexpectedly, the six-membered cyclization product, 2-amino-3-methylpyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazin-1(2H)-one as the major product. The expected cyclization product with a seven-membered ring, 4-methyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[2,1-d][1,2,5]triazepin-1-one was formed as the minor product and was converted quantitatively to the major product. The formation mechanism of the products was investigated, and the results obtained were also supported by theoretical calculations.
