Abstract: In the face of an integrating world economy where significant changes are taking place as a result of rapidly developing science and technology, China’s government must attach more importance to technology transfer to improve its economy. This paper analyses the features of the new environment and discusses the framework of technology transfer based on a review of theory, surveys and studies of Chinese enterprises. In particular, it considers the role of foreign funded enterprises and the importance of creating a positive cycle of technology “transfer‐digestion‐absorption‐dissemination” in China for increasing involvement in international production and trade activities within a global market.

Abstract: Individual automobile insurance claims are characterized by over-dispersion relative to the Poisson model. In addition, claim propensities vary among individuals in any insurance portfolio. This paper presents a model which takes account of both characteristics. The model employs the negativebinomial distribution as the distribution for individual-level claims and a Pareto distribution as the distribution for claim propensities within the portfolio. The paper shows that the resulting model is tractable and has a number of attractive properties which make it suitable for this application. The fit of the model to actual claim numbers for automobile third party liability insurance is examined and found acceptable. Bayes theorem is then applied to this model to calculate illustrative optimal premiums under the Bonus-Malus System (BMS).

Abstract: This paper presents the method of domain knowledge extracting in NChiql, a Chinese natural language interface to databases. After describing the overall extracting strategy in NChiql, we mainly discuss the basic semantic information extracting method, called DSE. A semantic conceptual graph is employed to specify two types of modification and three types of verbal relationship among the entities, relationships and attributes. Compared with related works. DSE has more strongly extracting ability.

Abstract: Association rule is a kind of important knowledge extracted from databases However, a large number of association rules may be extracted It is difficult for a user to understand them How to select some “representative” rules is thus an important and interesting topic In this paper, we proposed a distance-based approach as a post-processing for association rules on numeric attributes Our approach consists of two phases First, a heuristic algorithm is used to cluster rules based on a matrix of which element is the distance of two rules Second, after clustering, we select a representative rule for each cluster based on an objective measure We applied our approach to a real database As the result, three representative rules are selected, instead of more than 300 original association rules

Abstract: Shanghai No. 2 Textile Machinery Co. Ltd (STMC) is one of the key companies that were selected for implementing 863/CIMS. The framework of STMC‐CIMS was established at the end of 1994, and the first phase of STMC‐CIMS was qualified by the experts’ team of 863/CIMS in January 1995. This article describes the present disposal of each function system in the STMC‐CIMS, the software and hardware, the implementation of STMC‐CIMS, three aspects of preliminary application of integrated manufacturing, and the achievements of STMC‐CIMS.
