TL;DR: In this article, the energy level schemes of the 4 f 7 5 d (Tb 3+ ) and 5d (Ce 3+ ), Tb 3+, and 5 d configurations of the phonon sidebands are discussed.
Abstract: Sharp no-phonon lines associated with phonon sidebands have been observed in 4 f -5 d excitation spectra for Tb 3+ and Ce 3+ as well as in emission spectra of Ce 3+ , in Sc, Y and Lu orthophosphates at low temperatures. The spectra manifest themselves as if the 5 d electron did not see the tetragonal field component. Energy level schemes of the 4 f 7 5 d (Tb 3+ ) and 5 d (Ce 3+ ) configurations are discussed. The 4 f -5 d transition matrix elements are calculated for Ce 3+ . The phonon sidebands are believed to reflect the vibrations of the pure lattices.

TL;DR: In this paper, two photovoltaic cells are included in the image pickup tube and electrically connected in parallel with each other between the indexing electrodes with their polarities reversed, and they are alternately activated by radiant energy originating outside the tube to provide the different voltages for producing the index image.
Abstract: In an image pickup tube for a color television camera having a photoconductive layer for the conversion of images projected thereon into an electrical output and onto which a color separated image of an object to be reproduced is projected through a color filter which is part of the tube or separate therefrom and a pair of indexing electrodes disposed in close proximity to the photoconductive layer to electrically produce an index image on such layer in response to the application of different voltages to the indexing electrodes; two photovoltaic cells are included in the image pickup tube and electrically connected in parallel with each other between the indexing electrodes with their polarities reversed, and the photovoltaic cells are alternately activated by radiant energy originating outside the tube to provide the different voltages for producing the index image so that the electrical output is a composite signal containing a color video signal corresponding to the color separated image and a balanced index signal corresponding to the index image and by which individual color component signals may be separated from the color video signal. The electrical output is preferably derived at a junction between a pair of seriesconnected resistors also connected between the indexing electrodes; and a biasing voltage is also applied to the indexing electrodes by way of that junction.

TL;DR: In this paper, the stability of red iron oxide, titanium dioxide, and carbon black dispersed in cyclohexanone and isopropyl alcohol solutions of fatty polyamides was studied by measuring adsorption, viscosity, zeta potential, and sedimentation volumes.
Abstract: The stability of red iron oxide, titanium dioxide, and carbon black dispersed in cyclohexanone and isopropyl alcohol solutions of fatty polyamides was studied by measuring adsorption, viscosity, zeta potential, and sedimentation volumes. It was found that the stability of dispersion is markedly affected by the adsorption of polyamides. The greater the amount of adsorption, the greater the stability. On the other hand, a negative adsorption impaired the stability. A stabilization mechanism of polyamide adsorption was discussed in terms of entropic repulsion, electrostatic repulsion, and van der Waal's attraction.

TL;DR: In this paper, the Knoop hardness anisotropy and plastic deformation markings around the DPH indentation were investigated for an Mn-Zn ferrite single crystal.
Abstract: The Knoop hardness anisotropy and plastic deformation markings around the DPH indentation were investigated for an Mn-Zn ferrite single crystal. Knoop hardness values, which depended primarily on the crystallographic direction, were represented on a standard stereographic triangle. The hardness was maximum in the direction and minimum in the and directions. The patterns of the plastic deformation markings show that the ferrite deforms plastically at room temperature by {110} and {111} slip.

TL;DR: In this article, the epitaxial growth of single crystal regions and very fine polycrystalline regions on an IC substrate is controlled, essentially in accordance with the specified mapping of the IC pattern.
Abstract: The paper describes a new fabrication technology for a monolithic high-power linear IC. It is based on a novel process for controlling the epitaxial growth of single crystal regions and very fine polycrystalline regions on an IC substrate essentially in accordance with the specified mapping of the IC pattern. Polycrystalline regions are used in areas of isolation and collector lead paths which must be diffused deeply, and contribute to the most important characteristics required for the high-power IC, i.e., higher breakdown voltage and lower saturation resistance. A power capability far beyond any known in this field has been achieved. A typical example of the output power rating for an IC designed for use in a low-frequency SEPP-type power amplifier is 20-watts rms continuous service, and the total harmonic distortion content is less than 8 percent at 1 kHz at 40-volts source voltage.

Abstract: A color television receiver hue-control system that produces two sets of color-generating signals, one set being differentially controllable and the other not, to produce two kinds of reference color areas on the screen of a color cathode ray tube to be visible simultaneously. The hue of the first reference color in a first area is fixed, and the hue of the second reference color in an adjacent area is varied by the same hue adjustment control as that used to vary the hue in the reproduced television picture. The hue adjustment is achieved by adjusting the control to produce differential modification of the amplitude of one set of color-generating signals, either by direct amplitude modification or by phase shifting a demodulating carrier if the set of color-generating signals is modulated on a carrier, to produce coincidence of the hue of the two reference colors.
