TL;DR: In this paper, an interpolation filter performs multiple oversampling to produce the interpolated samples to eliminate amplitude discontinuities at repetition points during looping, two connection samples of repetitive waveform portions having values closest to each other are selected from actual samples and interpolated sampled samples.
Abstract: An apparatus for looping or data-compressing sampled waveform data digitized from musical sound signals (or the like) to produce sound source data, recording the sound source data on a storage medium, and reading out the sound source data from the storage medium for reproduction. To eliminate amplitude discontinuities at repetition points during looping, two connection samples of repetitive waveform portions having values closest to each other are selected from actual samples and interpolated samples. An interpolation filter performs multiple oversampling to produce the interpolated samples. The interpolation filter includes a filter for each degree of oversampling, and all the filters have the same amplitude characteristics. By asserting pulse code modulated data at the beginning portion of a looping domain, adverse compression effects can be avoided without the necessity of providing compression parameters. When reading out sound source data from the storage medium, a data start address and a looping start address are loaded, in that order, into an address generator. A discriminating flag indicating the presence or absence of the looping domain and a discriminating flag indicating the end of the sound source data can be included in the sound source data to facilitate control of looping or end of reproduction.

TL;DR: A model for the oxygen in ZnSe acting as an acceptor is proposed and the acceptor level and the effective charge of oxygen are estimated to be about 80 meV and -0.9, respectively, using the energy values of the luminescence peaks of bound-exciton and donor-acceptor emission.
Abstract: The optical properties of oxygen-doped ZnSe grown by molecular-beam epitaxy were studied by means of photoluminescence spectroscopy. Oxygen-related peaks were observed at about 4437 and at about 4550 A\r{}, where phonon replicas also appeared. These peaks may be caused by the radiative recombination of excitons bound to neutral oxygen atoms and donor-to-oxygen-acceptor emission, respectively. Observation of donor-acceptor emission in which the acceptor is an isoelectronic acceptor is reported for the first time. Oxygen, which is an isoelectronic impurity in ZnSe, can act as an acceptor in the same way as the generally used dopants such as nitrogen. A model for the oxygen in ZnSe acting as an acceptor is proposed. The acceptor level and the effective charge of oxygen are estimated to be about 80 meV and -0.9, respectively, using the energy values of the luminescence peaks of bound-exciton and donor-acceptor emission.

Abstract: In an apparatus for converting received video signals of a first format, which has a first number of horizontal lines in a field or frame and a picture display of a first aspect ratio, to video signals of a second format, which has a second number of horizontal lines in a field or frame and a picture display of a second aspect ratio; an analog-to-digital converter converts the received video signals of the first format to digital video signals, a memory has addresses at which there are written at least a field of the digital video signals of the first format, whereupon, a reading circuit reads from the memory addresses less samples of the digital video signals than were written in the memory and the digital video signals thus read from the memory are converted back to analog form, and a controller is provided for variably determining a start address of the addresses in the memory from which video signal data are read. In the case where the first aspect ratio is larger than the second aspect ratio, the selection of the start address determines a portion or portions of the picture display of the first aspect ratio to be omitted at least at one side of the picture display of the second aspect ratio.

TL;DR: In this article, a liquid crystal display unit is provided where address lines for two mutually adjacent odd and even rows of pixels arrayed in a matrix are in common, and two vertical pixels on each column can be displayed simultaneously to enable display of an image corresponding to one frame.
Abstract: A liquid crystal display unit is provided wherein address lines for two mutually adjacent odd and even rows of pixels arrayed in a matrix are in common, and two vertical pixels on each column can be displayed simultaneously to enable display of an image corresponding to one frame. Capacitor forming electrode wires are supplied with a fixed potential are disposed between omitted rows of address lines eliminated due to the common use thereof, whereby the storage capacitors are of a sufficiently high value, even with a high resolution display, to enhance the image quality of the liquid crystal display unit. Since a fixed potential is applied to the capacitor forming electrode wire which forms the storage capacitor, the capacitor does not apply a load to the address line and thereby consistently insures a fast operation. As a result, improvements can be achieved relating to large image area and high resolution. Furthermore, each pixel includes a switching transistor which is composed of a thin film transistor having a high carrier mobility and is formed under a single line so that even when the on-resistance of the transistor is lowered, the aperture ratio of the pixel is still enhanced to obtain a high resolution.
