Abstract: Onchocerca dewittei n. sp. was collected from a wild Boar at the metatarse level (tendons and subcutaneous connective tissue); it can be differentiated from other species by the female cuticle showing straight ridges which overlap in the lateral fields, and by its relatively thick microfilaria (length 228-247 mu and width 6-7 mu). This suidean Onchocerca displays some primitive characters such as straight ridges and persistency of ten pairs of caudal papillae in the male; but as a whole this species is undoubtedly more highly evolved than O. raillieti Bain, Muller and coll., 1976, a parasite of Equidae.

Abstract: The weaker spectral features in the Raman spectra of MN3 (M = K, Rb, Cs) in the region 1240–1360 cm−1 are reported. The present study indicates that the two-phonon modes involving ν2 can be analysed solely in terms of k = 0 selection rules whilst the two- and three-phonon bands involving internal and external combination modes require a critical point analysis. There are several possible assignments of a multiphonon band of the latter type; its appearance apparently depends on proximity to an intense fundamental mode, from which it presumably steals intensity.

Abstract: Examination of naturally infected felids and viverrids in Malaysia confirmed previously published records which indicated that P. westermani occurred only in felid cats. Felis planiceps and F. temnickli were reported as new host records. Analysis of stomach contents revealed no crab remains in either family of cats, but confirmed that felids were strictly carnivorous while viverrids were often omnivorous. In feeding experiments, only viverrids ate the host crabs Potomiscus johorensis and Parathelphusa maculata. The probable transmission of P. westermani to felids via paratenic hosts was discussed.

Abstract: A technique for improving the performance of a gate-level logic simulator through the use of interactive hardware is described. This technique not only reduces the program run-time and increases the gate capacity of the simulator, but also enables the same simulator to be used directly for on-line logic circuit testing. The simulator and interactive hardware were designed and implemented on a PDP11/20 computer.

Abstract: SUMMARY
Hexamethyl-melamine (hemel) when injected into male Ephestia kuhniella induced mating aberrations expressed as permanent copulation, sterile mating and spontaneous production of spermatophore. Permanent copulation was not caused by blockage or an elongated spermatophore column but probably caused by failure of the male reproductive organs to completely transfer the spermatophore. Spontaneous spermatophore formation was induced by both cholinesterase inhibitors and nerve stimulants, the effect of the former being more pronounced. It was not caused by stress due to poisoning since DDT even at lethal doses did not induce a response. The results suggest involvement of the nervous system in spermatophore production during a normal mating.
