TL;DR: In this article, a methodology is presented for the study of the void space structure of consolidated calcium carbonate paper-coating formulations and compressible polymer spheres, using mercury porosimetry.
Abstract: A methodology is presented for the study of the void space structure of consolidated calcium carbonate paper-coating formulations and compressible polymer spheres, using mercury porosimetry. Two limitations of mercury porosimetry are addressed: first, that the shrinkage of compressible samples causes an apparent increase in void volume, and, second, that large void spaces shielded by smaller ones are not intruded until anomalously high applied pressures of mercury are reached. The first limitation is overcome by means of a new correction procedure which, uniquely, also allows the measurement of the bulk modulus of the continuous solid phase of a porous sample. Shielding effects are taken into account by means of our software package known as Pore-Cor, which generates a three-dimensional structure which has both a mercury intrusion curve and porosity in close agreement with experiment. The simulated permeabilities provide realistic and useful values, which cannot be measured experimentally.

TL;DR: An overview of the various applications of Instagram and WhatsApp in health and healthcare is presented using evidence from the published literature and case reports indexed in PubMed and other sources.
Abstract: Instagram and WhatsApp are two social media and networking services introduced in 2010. They are currently subsidiaries of Facebook, Inc., California, USA. Using evidence from the published literature and case reports indexed in PubMed and other sources, we present an overview of the various applications of Instagram and WhatsApp in health and healthcare. We also briefly describe the main issues surrounding the uses of these two apps in health and medicine.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluate the efficiency of the world's most important container ports and terminals using the two alternative techniques of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and the Free Disposal Hull (FDH) model.
Abstract: Container terminal production is both an important and complicated element in the contemporary global economy. This paper aims to evaluate the efficiency of the world’s most important container ports and terminals using the two alternative techniques of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and the Free Disposal Hull (FDH) model. The results give an insight into the current efficiency ranking of the world’s major container ports and terminals. They also confirm expectations that the available mathematical programming methodologies lead to different results and that appropriate variable definition of input and output factors is a crucial element in meaningful applications of DEA and FDH. It is also concluded that the availability of panel data, rather than cross-sectional data would greatly improve the validity of the efficiency estimates derived from all the mathematical programming techniques applied.

TL;DR: A review of the use of IP25 as a proxy for sea ice is given in this article, where the authors highlight the importance of rigorous analytical identification and quantification of the IP25, especially if measurements of this biomarker are going to be used for quantitative sea ice reconstructions, rather than qualitative analyses alone.
