Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamic mapping of human cortical development during childhood through early adulthood
Nitin Gogtay,Jay N. Giedd,Leslie Lusk,Kiralee M. Hayashi,Deanna Greenstein,A. Catherine Vaituzis,Tom F. Nugent,David H. Herman,Liv S. Clasen,Arthur W. Toga,Judith L. Rapoport,Paul M. Thompson +11 more
TL;DR: The dynamic anatomical sequence of human cortical gray matter development between the age of 4-21 years using quantitative four-dimensional maps and time-lapse sequences reveals that higher-order association cortices mature only after lower-order somatosensory and visual cortices are developed.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI): MRI methods.
Clifford R. Jack,Matt A. Bernstein,Nick C. Fox,Paul M. Thompson,Gene E. Alexander,Danielle J Harvey,Bret J. Borowski,Paula J. Britson,Jennifer L. Whitwell,Chadwick P. Ward,Anders M. Dale,Joel P. Felmlee,Jeffrey L. Gunter,Derek L. G. Hill,Ronald J. Killiany,Norbert Schuff,Sabrina Fox-Bosetti,Chen Lin,Colin Studholme,Charles DeCarli,Gunnar Krueger,Heidi A. Ward,Gregory J. Metzger,Katherine T. Scott,Richard Philip Mallozzi,Daniel J. Blezek,Joshua Levy,Josef Phillip Debbins,Adam S. Fleisher,Marilyn S. Albert,Robert C. Green,George Bartzokis,Gary H. Glover,John P. Mugler,Michael W. Weiner +34 more
TL;DR: The approach taken in ADNI to standardization across sites and platforms of the MRI protocol, postacquisition corrections, and phantom‐based monitoring of all scanners could be used as a model for other multisite trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rietveld refinement of Debye–Scherrer synchrotron X‐ray data from Al2O3
TL;DR: In this paper, the application of the Rietveld refinement technique to synchrotron X-ray data collected from a capillary sample of Al2O3 in Debye-Scherrer geometry is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mapping cortical change across the human life span
Elizabeth R. Sowell,Bradley S. Peterson,Paul M. Thompson,Suzanne E. Welcome,Amy L. Henkenius,Arthur W. Toga +5 more
TL;DR: A significant, nonlinear decline in GMD with age is found over dorsal frontal and parietal association cortices on both the lateral and interhemispheric surfaces, indicating that the posterior temporal cortices have a more protracted course of maturation than any other cortical region.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of 14 nonlinear deformation algorithms applied to human brain MRI registration.
Arno Klein,Jesper L. R. Andersson,Babak A. Ardekani,Babak A. Ardekani,John Ashburner,Brian B. Avants,Ming Chang Chiang,Gary E. Christensen,D. Louis Collins,James C. Gee,Pierre Hellier,Pierre Hellier,Joo Hyun Song,Mark Jenkinson,Claude Lepage,Daniel Rueckert,Paul M. Thompson,Tom Vercauteren,Tom Vercauteren,Roger P. Woods,J. John Mann,Ramin V. Parsey +21 more
TL;DR: This study is the largest evaluation of nonlinear deformation algorithms applied to brain image registration ever conducted and suggests that the findings are generalizable to new subject populations that are labeled or evaluated using different labeling protocols.
