TL;DR: A solution to this inverse problem that attains exact localization: exact low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography (eLORETA) is reported, which yields high time-resolution intracranial signals that can be used for assessing functional dynamic connectivity in the brain.
Abstract: Scalp electric potentials (electroencephalogram; EEG) are contingent to the impressed current density unleashed by cortical pyramidal neurons undergoing post-synaptic processes. EEG neuroimaging consists of estimating the cortical current density from scalp recordings. We report a solution to this inverse problem that attains exact localization: exact low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography (eLORETA). This non-invasive method yields high time-resolution intracranial signals that can be used for assessing functional dynamic connectivity in the brain, quantified by coherence and phase synchronization. However, these measures are non-physiologically high because of volume conduction and low spatial resolution. We present a new method to solve this problem by decomposing them into instantaneous and lagged components, with the lagged part having almost pure physiological origin.

TL;DR: The anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 significantly inhibited InsP3-mediated calcium release and elevation of cytosolic calcium in WEHI7.2 T cells because responses to both anti-CD3 antibody and a cell-permeant InsP 3 ester were decreased.
Abstract: Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (InsP3) receptors (InsP3Rs) are channels responsible for calcium release from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). We show that the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 (either wild type or selectively localized to the ER) significantly inhibited InsP3-mediated calcium release and elevation of cytosolic calcium in WEHI7.2 T cells. This inhibition was due to an effect of Bcl-2 at the level of InsP3Rs because responses to both anti-CD3 antibody and a cell-permeant InsP3 ester were decreased. Bcl-2 inhibited the extent of calcium release from the ER of permeabilized WEHI7.2 cells, even at saturating concentrations of InsP3, without decreasing luminal calcium concentration. Furthermore, Bcl-2 reduced the open probability of purified InsP3Rs reconstituted into lipid bilayers. Bcl-2 and InsP3Rs were detected together in macromolecular complexes by coimmunoprecipitation and blue native gel electrophoresis. We suggest that this functional interaction of Bcl-2 with InsP3Rs inhibits InsP3R activation and thereby regulates InsP3-induced calcium release from the ER.

TL;DR: The International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT) has developed a consensus statement after a review of the dental literature and group discussions that represent the current best evidence based on literature research and professional opinion.
Abstract: Avulsion of permanent teeth is the most serious of all dental injuries. The prognosis depends on the measures taken at the place of accident or the time immediately after the avulsion. Replantation is the treatment of choice, but cannot always be carried out immediately. An appropriate emergency management and treatment plan is important for a good prognosis. Guidelines are useful for delivering the best care possible in an efficient manner. The International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT) has developed a consensus statement after a review of the dental literature and group discussions. Experienced researchers and clinicians from various specialties were included in the group. In cases in which the data did not appear conclusive, recommendations were based on the consensus opinion of the IADT board members. The guidelines represent the current best evidence based on literature research and professional opinion. In this second article of three, the IADT Guidelines for management of avulsed permanent teeth are presented.

Abstract: Crown fractures and luxations occur most frequently of all dental injuries. An appropriate treatment plan after an injury is important for a good prognosis. In this first article of three, the IADT Guidelines for management of fractures and luxations of permanent teeth will be presented.

TL;DR: It is lead to the conclusion that most luxation injuries heal spontaneously, and unless more conclusive evidence is available, conservative treatment of acute dental trauma for preschool children is suggested.
Abstract: As a support for the guidelines published in 2001, a review of the literature was carried out using the evidence-based approach in order to update the state of the art regarding epidemiology and treatment of traumatic dental injuries in the primary dentition. An online search in Medline, and a review of expert literature, lead to the conclusion that most luxation injuries heal spontaneously, and unless more conclusive evidence is available, conservative treatment of acute dental trauma for preschool children is suggested. Pain control, the dentist's ability to cope with the child's anxiety, and follow-up instructions in oral hygiene techniques will allow many primary teeth that are currently lost at the time of injury to be saved.
