TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the living conditions, jobs, and use of public spaces of migrants in urban areas and found that the differences among culture, lifestyles, and social prejudice are huge obstacles in social integration of migrant workers.
Abstract: Urban migration is an indispensable tendency of urbanization. Migrant workers contribute much to the development of cities as well as the welfare of communities and families. Based on analyzing research on four migrant workers including street vendors, industrial workers, domestic helpers, small-service sector workers, the article shows up a picture of living conditions, jobs, and use of public spaces of migrant workers. The approaches and use of public spaces for their earnings for living, relaxing, and widening their social relations play a significant role toward social integration in their new destination. Research shows that unskilled migrant workers are a group suffering much discrimination in social relations and using public services. The differences among culture, lifestyles, and social prejudice as well as shortcomings in urban management policies are huge obstacles in social integration of migrant workers. Moreover, the article initially identifies factors motivating and hindering migrants’ access and use of public spaces.

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of outreach on operational self-sufficiency (OSS) and profit of micro-finance institutions (MFIs) in Vietnam in the period 2011-2016 was studied.
Abstract: Paper focuses on the impact of outreach on operational self-sufficiency (OSS) and profit of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Vietnam in the period 2011–2016. The data collected through statistic of Vietnamese MFIs and the information in the MIX market—one of credible website that is visited by many scholars in the world. Unlike previous studies, which often carried out using the traditional frequentist method, this research based on Bayesian approach, which, in many cases, is thought to be more reliable and effective statistical inference than p-value hypothesis tesing (Briggs WM, Hung TN. Asian J Econ Banking 3(2), 2019). Using Bayesian approach, the paper’s results show that outreach has positive impact on OSS and profit of MFIs in Vietnam. Thus, the authors concentrate on the solutions, which aim at increasing the assessment of MFIs in the future.

TL;DR: In this article, an in-depth analysis of violent child discipline in the family in Vietnam was conducted using data from the Vietnam Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) 2006, 2011 and 2014; bivariate and multivariate analyses were conducted.
Abstract: This paper presents the findings from an in-depth analysis of violent child discipline in the family in Vietnam. The analysis was conducted using data from the Vietnam Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) 2006, 2011 and 2014. The analysis was disaggregated by child’s age, sex, mother’s education, wealth, ethnicity, residence (urban, rural) and geographic areas; bivariate and multivariate analyses were conducted. Data from the 2014 MICS show that two in three children aged 1–14 have experienced some form of violent discipline. Significantly, physical punishment is a widespread practice (42.7% of families). Boys were slightly more likely to be subjected to violent disciplinary practices than girls. The prevalence of violent discipline fluctuated, peaking at children aged 5–9 years, and then falling among children aged 10–14 years. Children were four times more likely to experience violent punishment if their mothers/primary caregivers considered physical punishment necessary. However, even among children whose mothers/primary caregivers did not endorse violent punishment, a large proportion of children were still subjected to it. The data also show that violent child discipline decreased significantly over time, albeit with variations in the reduction of forms of violent discipline. While high levels of reduction in psychological aggression against children were observed from 2006 to 2011, the reduction was attributed to physical punishment during the period 2011–2014. Recommendations to reduce violent child discipline include the role of government agencies, social organization and the wider community, as well as the immediate family.
