TL;DR: A dataset of 1676 responses to the survey “Studying reading habits and preferences” of junior high school students in Vietnam is presented, which facilitates evaluation of reading practices and their affecting factors, thus holding implications on education measures and policy.
Abstract: Books are the invaluable, colossal storage of mankind’s immense scholarship and are still commonly perceived as a more reliable source of knowledge even in this age of digitized information. Extensive reading is often promoted as being vital to cognitive development, especially for students in primary and secondary education. While it could now be considered common knowledge that reading is highly beneficial, reading habits vary among individuals in the same culture and receiving the same public education. This could be due to demographic variations and differences in socioeconomic status, or other factors such as family background and education. Despite the ample literature on reading habits, there still exists a lack of holistic approach with empirical results concerning the reciprocal interactions of reading and its relevant affecting factors. This data article presents a dataset of 1676 responses to the survey “Studying reading habits and preferences” of junior high school students in Vietnam. Result analysis facilitates evaluation of reading habits and their affecting factors, thus holding implications on education measures and policy. The dataset is available with the paper.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on the current legal model in Vietnam that governs solid waste management relations and the process of law implementation, and point out some shortcomings and problems concerning law implementation on Solid Waste management, and propose solutions to improve the efficiency of law implementations in this field.
Abstract: Good management of solid waste aims to protect human health, preserve the environment, save resources and towards the sustainable development of the country. Solid waste management is expected to become increasingly complex in Vietnam due to socio-economic development and population growth. There are many factors influencing solid waste management, but it is indispensable for law to be a social management tool of the State. The provisions of the law on solid waste management and the process of law implementation need to be more and more complete in response to the increasing requirements for environmental protection. Therefore, the paper focuses on clarifying the current legal model in Vietnam that governs solid waste management relations and the process of law implementation on solid waste management in Vietnam, points out some shortcomings and problems concerning law implementation on solid waste management, thereby proposing solutions to improve the efficiency of law implementation in this field. Those are: 1/Completing decentralization in solid waste management; 2/Determining the priority order in controlling and limiting the sources of solid wastes; 3/Completing incentive mechanisms and policies, encouraging activities to reduce, reuse and recycle solid waste; 4/ Strengthening inspection, examination and handling of violations in solid waste management; 5/Promoting socialization in solid waste management.

TL;DR: In this article, the determinants of foreign direct investment in the Southern Central Coast (SCC) region of Vietnam over the period 2007-2016 by a spatial econometric approach were examined.
Abstract: This paper examines the determinants of foreign direct investment in the Southern Central Coast (SCC) region of Vietnam over the period 2007–2016 by a spatial econometric approach. The estimation results show that FDI inflows in the SCC region are attracted by the cheap labor cost of the host province, and provinces that own national seaports have great advantages in attracting FDI, confirming the vertical FDI form in the SCC region. Interestingly, skilled labor force in the surrounding provinces has a positive impact on FDI inflows in the host province. In particular, regarding the role of local institutional quality, the estimation shows that the legal institutions and level of social security in the host province play important roles in attracting FDI.
